General Hospital Alum John Stamos Dishes On Olsen Twins

For years, rumors have swirled about General Hospital alum John Stamos’ rocky relationship with twins Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen on Full House. And now the General Hospital alum has confessed how he felt when the twins didn’t want to return for the Full House reboot, Fuller House. Talking to Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale on their podcast “And That’s What You REALLY Missed,” Stamos admitted he felt “angry,” reported Page Six.

After Netflix rebooted the sitcom, Fuller House delighted fans for five seasons. In addition to the General Hospital alum, original Full House stars including Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Dave Coulier returned to their roles. But John felt upset to hear rumors that Mary-Kate and Ashley “hated their childhood” on Full House. However, the twins later shared their positive memories of starring on the sitcom from 1987 to 1995.

And the General Hospital alum, 59, revealed that Mary-Kate and Ashley denied the rumors. “But they said, ‘We loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob [Saget],'” recalled Stamos. However, the General Hospital alum admitted that he didn’t spend much time with the twins who portrayed Michelle Tanner through the years. But John, who portrayed Uncle Jesse Katsopolis on the show, revealed that Mary-Kate and Olsen did stay close to Bob Saget before his death in January 2022 at age 65.

Before Saget’s death, John only “stayed in touch a little bit” with the Olsen twins. But after Saget’s death, the General Hospital alum connected again with Ashley and Mary-Kate. And he revealed that the sisters even brought him a “frozen pork chop and sage.” Stamos described the gift as “really nice” of the Olsen twins.

But in 2021, Ashley and Mary-Kate chose to retire from acting. And the twins steered clear of the spotlight by moving into careers in fashion. However, they appeared in the headlines again in April when Stamos gave another interview about them. And John admitted he got the twins fired from Full House when they were babies.

“I couldn’t deal with [their crying],” confessed the General Hospital alum. And he recalled saying, “This is not gonna work, guys.’ I screamed at them, ‘Get rid of them. I can’t work like this,'” Stamos confessed. However, Full House producers later hired back the Olsen twins when their replacements turned out to be “terrible.”
