General Hospital Comings And Goings: Sean Blakemore Says Goodbye To Shawn Butler

General Hospital: Sean BlakemoreGeneral Hospital (GH) spoilers for the week of March 7, 2022 indicate that fans will have to say goodbye to one of the show’s most complicated and yet connected characters. Sean Blakemore, who plays Shawn Butler, is leaving the show.

Shawn is TJ Ashford’s (Tajh Bellow) biological father and in the past few months he came to be buddies with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), as well as her employer.

The actor shared the news on Twitter. He said that he decided to leave the show due to other obligations. For now the show has announced that Shawn will be leaving Port Charles, New York for business reasons. Does this mean that Alexis will be given more responsibility or will her job leave along with Shawn? We’ll have to wait and see how things shake out with Alexis, but this is one cat who always lands on her feet.

Perhaps she will explore her relationship to Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) more in depth now? It is curious that everyone is leery about Alexis having anything to do with the former con, as if Alexis were as pure as the wind driven snow.

In fact Alexis and Harmony are perfect partners in crime. It remains to be seen if Harmony brings Alexis down to her level or if Alexis elevates Harmony to hers?

Blakemore joined the cast of General Hospital in the role of Shawn Butler in 2011. He left in 2015 but was seen later that year and in 2016. He returned in 2021, interacting with Alexis who did time for one of her many stupid life choices, this time an actual crime.

Blakemore was nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Sean; once in 2012 and he won the award in 2016. His credits include ER, Monk, The Shield, Cold Case, NCIS, Bones and the film Big Ain’t Bad. He also appeared in the 2002 film Dahmer, and TV movies Motives 2: Retribution, and Blackout.

    Sorry to see SB leave GH, but his return was not very eventful. His part in helping Alexis get through being incarcerated was good, so was buying the Invader, and it being revealed that he did not shoot Hayden thus clearing his name, even though he was hired to kill. A story line other than those items mentioned above should have been incorporated in his return, and is probably why he decided to move on. Wish SB the best with his future projects, and maybe some day he will return to GH with a good story line.
