Brown, who played Marah Lewis on Guiding Light, daughter of Josh (Robert Newman) and Reva (Kim Zimmer), from 1993-1998 and then again in 2006, was just 9 years old when she took over the role of Marah from Ashley Peldon. She started acting when she was a small child and appeared in several Broadway shows before making her soap debut.
General Hospital Comings And Goings -Thrilled To be Returning
Since leaving her role on GL, Brown has appeared in some episodic television but is thrilled to be returning to the soap scene. She even knows some of her General Hospital co-stars, who she worked with on Guiding Light all those years ago, like Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) and Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves). They played Cassie Layne and Annie Dutton on GL.
“I am so excited,” Brown told Soap Opera Digest. “I started acting when I was 5 or 6, and being on Guiding Light was such a highlight for me. I haven’t done a soap since Guiding Light, so I’m just thrilled to be doing something in daytime again. It feels like going back to something that holds a special place in my heart, and to get to do it as an adult. It’s a different experience as an adult, but it gives you that nostalgia and all the great memories of when I was a kid working on the soap, which was just such a huge family. I loved working with everyone there.”
GH Spoilers – Possible Hayden Barnes Recast
Of course, as soon as the news broke of her casting, fans began speculating on who she might play. Some have pegged her as a Hayden Barnes recast, a role first created by Rebecca Budig, who played Michelle Bauer on Guiding Light at the same time Brown played Marah.
Hayden might be due for a return now that Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) is no longer in hiding and she is no longer in danger. She did leave her little girl, Violet (Jophielle Love), behind with her father, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton). Hayden has come and gone before so a Port Charles return would not be unusual. She is also Elizabeth’s sister and Elizabeth can always use some family, but never seems to have any around.
Brown is set to make her debut next week. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see who the actress will play.
