General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Jonathan Jackson tells the real reason he left the show so soon as Lucky Spencer.
We now understand the reason… Jackson shared insights regarding his exit with TV Insider, clarifying that he never meant to depart after returning for a duration of nine months.
Things Weren’t Working With The Excessive Commute
Last week, many were shocked to discover that Jonathan Jackson would be departing from GH again, after making his return to the ABC soap for the first time in almost a decade. With his significant comeback, we had hoped he would stay on the show for a more extended period.
Unfortunately, life intervened, and despite the efforts of both the actor and the soap to make it feasible, he couldn’t remain for long.
Jackson, who resides in Nashville, Tennessee, found the commute to Los Angeles, California, to be detrimental to his personal life. Beyond being an actor, he is also a husband and father of three, and despite his best efforts, the new routine ultimately proved unmanageable for his family.
Jonathan Loved Being Back At His Old Stomping Grounds
Returning to the soap opera he first joined in 1993 at the young age of 11 holds a special significance for Jackson, as he values his enduring bond with Port Charles. “It’s always a bit nostalgic when I’ve been away from the show for some time and then return,” he shares.
“In many ways, it can be quite overwhelming, because there are few experiences in life where you can step back into a world that has evolved yet retained its essence.
Encountering many familiar faces in the crew, individuals you’ve known intermittently over the years, creates those incredible connections. Plus, you have the character you portray, who carries a rich history, allowing you to collaborate with so many people once more.
He Tried, But Couldn’t Make The Filming Schedule Combined With The Commute Work With His Family Responsibilities
“There were times when I thought, ‘I believe I can achieve a balance between family and the back-and-forth of time,'” he expressed. He added, “And then you simply have to pray about it and strive to do what feels right. We gave it our all, but we couldn’t maintain it.”
Family should always take precedence, and we are thankful for the time we had Jackson with us; as always, we look forward to the day he might return to Port Charles. Regarding Jackson’s future, who will be departing Port Charles this week, he mentions, “There are some tours on the horizon.”
What’s Down The Road For Jonathan Jackson?
Jonathan continued, “I will be launching a solo album later this year. Additionally, I have at least one book set to release this year, which includes a poetry collection and an anthology of poems that I have been developing for over 15 years.
It is titled Anthology of Longing-and, there is another book that was published in 2014 named The Mystery of Art. It serves as a sort of sequel to that idea, delving into the art of storytelling and its connections to history, faith, poetry, and similar themes, slated for release later this year.
Looking ahead to next year, we plan to tour the UK and Europe, alongside Nashville, which is going to be incredibly thrilling; there’ll be music, books, and other projects that may arise.
