General Hospital News – Maurice Benard Tweets LGBT Community Support Amid Ingo Exit

After portraying General Hospital mob boss Sonny Corinthos for about three decades, Maurice Benard has become one of the most popular actors on ABC’s daytime soap opera. And beyond his role, Benard has become known for his “State Of Mind” mental health podcast.

But Maurice took a break from both his daytime drama role and podcast recently to address the controversy involving his co-star Ingo Rademacher, who plays Jasper “Jax” Jacks on General Hospital. Rademacher will appear in his last episode on Nov. 22, per EW.

Ingo’s exit stems from two situations. First, Rademacher reportedly criticized both COVID-19 vaccine mandates and efficacy. And second, the Jasper actor misgendered a transgender federal official on social media.

In the wake of the misgendering by Ingo, actress Cassandra James (Terry Randolph) slammed Rademacher’s comments. Cassandra’s response quickly earned support from Maurice. Benard also tweeted that he stands with the LGBT community.

The reference to @mbstateofmind connects to Benard’s YouTube channel. On that channel, the General Hospital actor features podcasts on topics ranging from his wife Paula’s “tough moments” to his son Joshua’s views on mental health.

Maurice Benard received a quick response from General Hospital fans who follow the actor on Twitter. And some urged Benard and his co-stars to encourage producers to use the controversy in story lines.

For instance, one General Hospital Twitter fan urged the daytime drama’s actors to “come together and push producers…[to tackle] subjects like this with storylines.” And another pointed out that General Hospital had used timely topics in plots before, such as the AIDS epidemic.
