General Hospital News: Genie Francis Speaks Out On Laura And Kevin’s Future

General Hospital spoilers tease that Genie Francis, who plays Mayor Laura Webber Collins on General Hospital, has her own ideas on how the love story of Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Laura should end – or, not end! In an article in Soap Opera Digest’s latest edition, she talks about what she would like to see happen, if she had her choice of what the writers would choose as the outcome.
She does say that she has really enjoyed playing out this storyline of Kevin’s supposedly deceased brother Ryan Chamberlain showing up after having been kept in Ferncliff by Kevin for several months, after he was alive and working for the DVX for over twenty years.
However, Francis also says it has been difficult acting Laura’s failure to understand and to pick up on Kevin not being himself in a very literal way over all those months. She said it was hard for her to act out someone playing dumb in a scene with someone when the answer was right in front of her face.

She also says if something like that was to happen in real life, and her husband, actor Jonathan Frakes of Star Trek: Next Generation fame, accidentally caused the death of another person, she would support him because of the guilt one deals with in such a situation.

Of course, she is relating Jonathan to Kevin, not to Ryan. She would worry for him, and forgive him. Francis finds it hard to imagine that Laura could have compassion for Ava Jerome (Maura West) and yet have a hard time forgiving Kevin.
She can understand being angry for a while and not understanding why Kevin felt he couldn’t share this with her, if the writers decide to have Laura not being able to forgive Kevin, then Francis doesn’t know who Laura is!
She also addresses Laura’s state of mind throughout all the months that Ryan had Kevin hostage in Ferncliff. She says Laura was confused at first, and hurt, not understanding what happened. Did Kevin fall out of love with her, was Kevin having an affair, was she fooling herself when she believed Kevin could and did love her?
General Hospital News: Breakup With Kevin Collins Was Devastating
She says of course the breakup devastated Laura, but Laura needs someone to love and focus her compassion on. When she became mayor, she turned all that love and compassion towards Port Charles and its people.
About Laura becoming mayor of Port Charles, Francis says when she first read through the script she really didn’t feel it. But when she watched herself in the scene on television, and saw Laura taking back her maiden name when she took the oath of mayor, she got chills! She said she saw it as Laura taking her power back and taking her own identity back.
Francis says she loves working with Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos). If she’s tense, he can look in her eyes and calm her down immediately. She says he has much the same calming effect on her as Tony Geary did all those years ago when they played Luke and Laura. She loves working with Maurice, and she loves the complicated history between their characters.

Don’t care Laura and Kevin are so boring. She is boring just looking at her. The writers need to update Laura and her relationships, or just write her out for good.
That maybe your opinion but theirs thousands of fans who fought for Laura’s comeback to #GH & won that disagree with you. Kevin*Laura are anything but boring to all of those people that poll them everyweek online & in all the soap opera magazines & as #1 or #2 on favorite couples or favorite male or female actor on a soap so they’re favored by many a fan. Kevin is a wonderful character he’s loving,thoughtful,dependable, he’s been Laura’s knight in shining armour! He helped her through Nicholas death by comforting her everyway he could,he helped Spencer with his emotions after his father died. He’s taken a bulllet for Laura when Valentin aimed the gun at her & he jumped in the way,could of died,welcomed her & Spencer into his home when they wore out their welcome at lulu’s,been there for her everytime she was in trouble(when she wokeup at the airport)everytime she’s been sad,been everything to her & loves her very much. Kevin is sweet,compassionatehelpful,loving,funny,adorable,romantic all the good things a man should be. Laura is caring,the matriarch of #GH,is a good friend,loves her family & compliments Kevin in all the ways he needs a woman to do so,she makes him feel important,supports & encourages him,loves his sense of humor & he makes her laugh,he even encouraged her to run for mayor. Their adorable together,sexy,flirty & they made vows to stand by one another in the good times and bad! They’re refreshing to the show which needs all the help it can get! #GH

I think there’s a lot of frustration around Laura right now. It’s almost like these writers don’t know who she is!! But I am so very grateful she’s back and actually has a storyline!!! It makes me happy just knowing she’s back to GH!
The writers are doing a good job,Laura has forgiven Kevin & has told him she doesn’t want a divorce but they’re going to have to work on their trust issues & other things that this whole Ryan ordeal created. It will take sometime but it’s healthy to continually work on yourself to be a better person. The fact is that they love each other very much & both have so many good qualities that they overwrite the bad ones. Kevin has all the attributes of the sweetest,kindest,loving,caring,supportive man you’d ever want to meet & deserves a 2nd chance which is so wonderful I’m so happy their such a popular couple they even have a nickname #KevLaur Laura’s becoming a stronger person becoming mayor which Kevin encouraged her to run for so it’ pretty easy to see what the writers are giving her to work with. Genie did say the writers were wanting to have Laura be less forgiving over a longer amount of time but she said that would be out of character for Laura so they changed her back to the very forgiving person she is. She knows Kevin made a terrible mistake because of love for his brother & everyone has suffered for it including himself being drugged & locked away for almost 6 months while his brother was getting away with murder & so many other horrible things. We all fall short but god gives us many chances so Laura is doing the right thing for the right man! #GH #KevLaur 4life
Yes 100% their perfect together. On today’s show Friday 3/29/19 Laura tells Kevin she doesn’t want a divorce! I was so happy to hear that I nearly fell off my chair. I’ve been pleading with TPTB #FrankValentini #GH to please let Laura forgive him,reunite them & let them work on their marriage together. They really love each other & we the fans have been waiting for over 14 months for the actors/characters to finally get back together on screen after being separated for so long. Jon*Genie are one of the best couples on the show & they’re always voted in the top 2 poll in all the soap opera magazines & online polls. There adorable,sexy,flirty,supportive,friends,funny,caring,encouraging to one another & they actually have adult conversations that you can understand & they make sense. I’m loving every moment their on screen & want so much more of them together,they just have that magical chemistry that you never get tired of. #GH #KevLaur 4 life
