Tribute Episode To Luke And His Portrayer

On Friday, February 20, the soap opera honored the beloved character Luke Spencer and his remarkable actor, the late Anthony Geary. Geary sadly left us on December 14, 2025, at the age of 78, and he was memorialized in a heartfelt episode.

ABC had previously broadcast a repeat of the Daytime Emmy winner’s last episode on New Year’s Day.

Later they showcased a touching montage of memorable moments from Geary’s extensive time on the soap during the conclusion of the January 23 episode.

But this scripted episode, full of flashbacks from over the years,  truly acted as a formal goodbye.

The Episode Focused On Tracy, Lulu, And Luke’s Friends And Family

The narrative focused on Luke’s partner, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), as she assisted his former stepdaughter, Lulu in honoring the memory of her father.

This was particularly poignant since Luke had passed away while Lulu was in a prolonged coma that lasted for years.

Throughout this emotional journey, they were joined by several significant figures from Luke’s life.

This was including his first wife, Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), his niece Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), his longtime friend Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and his former daughter-in-law Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst).

Together, they reminisced about the extraordinary man that Luke was, sharing heartfelt stories and cherished flashbacks; here’s a detailed account of everything that happened.

Lulu Was In  A Rush And Dropped Her Bag, Several Things Spilled Out

In a rush, Lulu inadvertently dumped the contents of her tote bag. While she was putting her items back into her purse, her eyes caught sight of something beneath the bookshelf, which turned out to be a photograph of her father, Luke.

She then made her way to the Quartermaine house to show the picture to her ‘stepmonster’ Tracy, who realized that Lulu had never had the opportunity to mourn her father’s passing.

She promised to help her pay tribute to Luke. The two women headed to All Saints Chapel, but it didn’t feel right to Lulu since her father favored bars and casinos over churches, so they opted to leave.

They Reminisced About How Luke Tricked Tracy Into Marrying Him The First Time

Outside, they chuckled about how Luke had tricked Tracy into marrying him for the first time while she was intoxicated, and Tracy reminisced about the morning after their Las Vegas wedding.

Inspired by a thought, she took Lulu to the Brown Dog Bar, but since it wasn’t open yet, the owner asked them to return later.

After Tracy handed him $500 in cash, the man left them alone in the tavern, and as he zipped up his jacket, it was revealed that his name was Luke.

Helping themselves to Luke’s preferred drinks, scotch and rum, Tracy and Lulu raised a toast to their Luke.

Carly Found A Poker Chip Donna Discovered

At Carly’s place, she was examining a poker chip that Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) had discovered when Sonny arrived.

Recognizing it from his move, which he had given to their daughter, Sonny mentioned it reminded him of Luke.

Recalling their first meeting, Sonny remembered how upset Luke was when he visited the Spencer home for business.

He then shared with Carly that, despite their rough beginning, Luke became more like a brother than just a friend, which made Carly smile.

She thought of how kind her uncle had been to her mom, even if her own relationship with him wasn’t the best.

Elizabeth Visited Laura At Work After Carly Went To Bobbie’s

As Carly needed to head to Bobbie’s, they said their goodbyes, reflecting on how nice it was to remember Luke, and Sonny put the poker chip in his pocket.

In another scene, Elizabeth visited the mayor’s office to inform Laura that Aiden Webber (last portrayed by Colin Cassidy) had officially become a licensed driver and was eager to find the ideal car.

As she expressed her surprise at Aiden’s car obsession, Laura smiled and explained that it was inherited from his grandfather, Luke.

Then, as she was leaving the office to run errands, Laura instructed her assistant to send Aiden his birthday present early since her grandson was saving up for a car.

With thoughts of Luke lingering in her mind, Laura found herself at All Saints.

Laura Remembered Her Past With Luke

Reflecting on her past, she recalled the life she shared with her ex-husband and discussed with him the qualities their children inherited from him and the significant influence he had on them.

With tears in her eyes, Laura expressed that for her, what they had was never truly finished, as their hearts were intertwined beyond time, loss, and this life.

“Nothing could alter that. Nothing. I appreciate the dance. I appreciate the adventure. And I appreciate the love of a lifetime,” she cried.

Afterward, Laura visited Bobbie’s and sighed to Carly about how she had been thinking of Luke all day.

When Carly noted that she and Sonny had also been discussing Luke earlier and speculated if it was his birthday or an anniversary, Laura smiled and said that there didn’t need to be a special reason to remember someone.

Laura And Carly Remembered Luke And Bobbie Spencer

Later, Laura expressed her gratitude to Carly for keeping the diner running, as it held significance for both Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and Luke.

Following that, Laura reminisced about the moment she told Luke she wanted to marry him while he was cooking in the kitchen of that very diner, then texted Lulu.

Later, Carly exited the diner and, looking up at Bobbie’s sign, remembered a talk where her uncle mentioned her possessing the Spencer grit.

Carly then took out her phone to check a text message and saw that the poker chip from earlier had somehow ended up in her purse.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Elizabeth left work early after getting a text message.

Sonny, Laura And Carly Arrived At The Brown Dog Bar

Back at the Brown Dog, Lulu and Tracy were in a booth when Sonny walked in, having seen Lulu’s car outside and worried she was stuck.

Tracy explained they were there to celebrate Luke, and Lulu invited Sonny to join them.

As they enjoyed more drinks, the three talked about how, despite the rocky beginning between Luke and Tracy, he had fallen deeply in love with her.

“A couple so wrong, it turned out so right,” Sonny said, and they laughed about all the things Luke had gotten away with over the years.

Soon after, Laura joined the group, and Carly arrived, having been invited by Sonny to come along.

Carly Asked Sonny If He Put The Chip In Her Pocket, He Denied It

Carly asked Sonny why he returned the poker chip, but he insisted he had nothing to do with it. Next, Elizabeth entered, having heard about the Luke celebration from Laura.

While the group sat around drinking rum and scotch, Sonny mentioned that some people honor their loved ones by sending lanterns out to sea.

Tracy tapped a few things on her phone, and then the group headed to the pier to release lanterns in memory of Luke.

Laura told Lulu that it felt more like a “see you later” than a goodbye regarding Luke, as there were always little reminders of him.

A Pier-Side Toast To Luke

The group raised their to-go cups filled with straight whiskey in a toast to Luke, and Lulu softly said, “This just feels right.”

She expressed her gratitude to Tracy for assisting her in bidding farewell to her dad. As Lulu shifted her gaze back to the water, she gasped at a sight in the distance: Luke, emerging from the fog with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder.

Luke’s apparition beamed at his daughter, then momentarily closed his eyes before stepping into the dark night. Lulu whispered, “See you later, Dad.”

After the women departed, Sonny found himself alone on the dock, reminiscing about the day Luke had given him his gun as he left town.

Luke was  intent on seeking a different path than the life of crime they had both experienced; raising his cup in a toast, Sonny smiled at his friend.

Meanwhile, back at her house, Liz discovered that Aiden had left her a warm, freshly baked muffin.

Remembering the time she had baked brownies for Luke and invited her father-in-law to join her at the G.H. Christmas party, Liz settled onto the couch to enjoy reading her son’s car magazine.

Laura Returned To Her Office, Carly To Bobbie’s

Laura walked back into her office, where her assistant informed her that she had bought a birthday card for Aiden.

As she picked up the card, Laura was taken aback to find an image of a vintage car, reminiscent of the one Luke used to drive.

This sight triggered memories of their dances at Wyndham’s, on their wedding day, and at the Triple L Diner in Canada.

Meanwhile, Carly returned to Bobbie’s to tidy up for the evening and recalled a heated argument she had with Luke while he was at the Metro Court hotel.

Her uncle had expressed his concern about her getting hurt because they were family.

Back At The Quartermaine Mansion, Tracy Remembered The Day Luke Proposed For Real

At the Quartermaine residence, Tracy sipped her tea and reminisced about the day Luke proposed for real;  back in the present, Tracy stifled a sob and said with longing, “I’d do it all again.”

Finally, Lulu placed the framed photograph she had discovered earlier on top of the bookcase. She recalled her father’s words that she was smart and strong enough to face whatever challenges life presented her, as she was a Spencer.

Then, feeling something in her pocket, Lulu retrieved a poker chip; “Thank you for sharing your luck. And your love, Dad,” she murmured.

After kissing the chip, she leaned it against the picture frame, kissed her fingertips, and gently touched Luke’s face.
