General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease that Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) obviously knows Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) from somewhere, although Sonny didn’t recognize him in a recent episode of General Hospital!

General Hospital Spoilers And Rumors – Curtis Ashford Has Been Worried That His Father Was Involved With The Mob

Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) has been worried that his father may have been involved with the mob during his missing years, and Curtis has not exactly been forthcoming. All Marshall has said is that the danger he ran from when he faked his death when Curtis was little was still around, and he didn’t want his past talked about much because of that.

General Hospital viewers will recall he implied he may have been in witness protection but hasn’t given any specifics at all, and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) hasn’t been able to find anything in his cyber dive.

But there were some definite clues that the people Marshall described as being “bad people” he’d gotten mixed up with were mobsters – he was definitely familiar with the Novak family, with Joey Novak (Patrick Zeller) having been beaten after making trouble at The Savoy! Another big clue was in a more recent episode when he definitely recognized Sonny, although Sonny didn’t recognize him and he even told Curtis if he was in tight with Sonny, he’d have to walk away!

General Hospital viewers will recall that Marshall said he was running from someone, and his recognition of and apparent fear of Sonny might give some clues as to who he may have tangled with in his past! Sonny’s lack of recognition of Marshall probably doesn’t mean that much, considering he may not have recognized him after many years, and there are two possibilities that come to longtime General Hospital viewers’ minds.

Depending on how many years Marshall was on the run or in witness protection, he could have either tangled with Sonny when he was involved with Joe Scully, Sr. (Robert Miano) or a little later when he was working for Frank Smith (George Gaynes). Considering that Jennifer Smith (Holly Gagnier) has recently shown up again in Port Charles and she’s working with the mob, Marshall probably encountered Sonny when he was working for Frank!

General Hospital viewers are likely wondering if Marshall was involved with a rival crime family to Frank Smith’s, who it might be – that is a good question, because the Smith gang was the only game in town back then! But Sonny took over the territory when Frank died – the first time- longtime General Hospital viewers will remember he too, faked his death and reappeared years later, alive although paralyzed from when Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) had tried to kill him years ago.

Luke got the last laugh and killed Smith graveyard dead, as Frank prepared to kill Luke and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) together; after Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jacskson) arrived and shot Frank before he could do anything. Frank then made a move and pointed his gun towards Luke and his loved ones to get one final shot at them, but Luke saw first! It’s possible that Marshall could have been involved with one of Sonny’s rivals later on – which may be revealed in future episodes of General Hospital!
