General Hospital spoilers reveal Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) have been trucking along pretty happily for a few months now, and it’s safe to say they likely have a real chance at a future — as long as they can ditch this SEC business soon. Carly and her ex-husband, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), might not appear to have much love lost between them, but looks can be deceiving. When Carly ends up in trouble, it’s going to be Sonny who saves the day. Likewise, when Sonny needs help, will Carly go above and beyond to help him — even if that means forsaking her relationship with Drew?

General Hospital Spoilers — Carly Spencer Is Guilty, After All

When the SEC busted into the Quartermaine mansion on Willow and Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) wedding day, everyone assumed Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) was the culprit who had Carly hauled away on suspicion of insider trading. Let’s be frank — she’s guilty, and so is Drew. Still, Sonny didn’t hesitate to swoop in and lend a hand even when Carly wasn’t asking for one. Actually, she seemed a bit peeved that he went out of his way to help her by creating a diversion.

Only Sonny could make it look like Drew just boarded a flight to Maui when he’s actually trekking through the snowscape of Greenland right now. Did Carly really feel annoyed by Sonny’s offer to help, or is it just easier for her to stay in love with Drew if she keeps reminding herself Sonny is a bad guy?

Michael wasn’t expecting problems with his mom on his big day, but he did expect a few for his pops, and those are about to pull through. Sonny has been slightly suspicious that someone was off with the Pikeman deal, but everything seemed to check out. As the deal goes down and Sonny is taken down with it, he’s going to be at risk more than ever — and with the feds this time around. Without any leverage to negotiate with locals like Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), Sonny will be at the mercy of whatever strings Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) can pull. Meanwhile, his territory will go unmanned, unless someone else steps up to the plate.

The last time Sonny was MIA and his territory was floundering, Carly had to step up and take the reins in hopes that he would return soon. The Five Families didn’t actually give her a hard time, and everyone respected her as Sony’s other half. They knew they could trust her because they were married, and thus, she could never be compelled to testify against Sonny. Therefore, the same can only work now if Sonny and Carly remarry.
