General Hospital spoilers tease that little Aiden Spencer (Jason David) may have much more than just garden variety teasing or even bullying to deal with at school. In a meeting with Aiden’s teacher, Willow Tait (Katelyn McMullen) Franco (Roger Howarth) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) learn that Aiden is a completely different child at school than he is at home!
Miss Tait explains that while Aiden is maintaining good grades, he appears to be avoiding interaction with the other children, even staying inside at recess. He doesn’t even interact with his cousin Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) who is in the same class. The teacher is concerned there may be problems at home, which Franco and Liz deny.

Franco notes that the only hint of a problem at home has been the Princess Kalinda of Everwood pencils hidden under his bed. Aiden also avoided giving his mom the letter from Miss Tait, telling Liz he was afraid he’d be in trouble. This could be a sign of feeling shame for and fear of something that has been happening to him at school, in addition to his increasingly fearful behavior.
Unfortunately, as Miss Tait did, many teachers immediately go for blaming a student’s home life for behavioral problems at school, whether they be aggressive or passive, as Aiden’s are. Due to many cases of too many students for too few teachers, many miss problems going on right under their own noses at school, including abuse.
Franco: “OK, no problem. But we’re gonna be right here watching you, so don’t be taking off with the money”

Aiden’s being normal at home versus being withdrawn at school indicates he feels safe at home but not at school. There is no evidence he is being beaten by bullies, so unfortunately the fear may be coming from a much uglier and shameful source!
Aiden’s behavioral symptoms combined with Franco’s having been abused by Jim Harvey (Greg Evigan) and his dealing with his childhood abuse as an adult may be pointing to General Hospital planning an abuse storyline featuring little Aiden.
GH has always been on the cutting edge for portraying social problems, but they may be the first to actually feature a child dealing with the type of abuse Franco and Drew suffered as children—GH and most soaps have historically portrayed this important issue with the effects of it on victims later in life. Liz herself was raped, but as a teenager, not as a small child as Aiden is.
Unfortunately, this type of abuse knows no boundaries…danger could be lurking in the form of a teacher, a parent or other relative, or even an older child, and it looks like GH may intend to make history with a storyline of little Aiden being a victim in a similar manner to his future stepfather Franco. Keep watching General Hospital and checking General Hospital spoilers frequently to see what GH has planned down the line with little Aiden!
