General Hospital spoilers reveals when Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) came to Port Charles, we knew he was there to help Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) take down his father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Dex seemed to understand the task at hand rather well. The closer he’s gotten to helping Michael succeed at this feat, the more invested Dex seems to be.
In fact, some fans are arguing he’s more committed to the cause than Michael is. But why? While it seems like Dex has a genuine interest in being a part of the organized crime world, it’s unclear why he has such a personal beef with Sonny. When the truth comes out, it will stun everyone — Michael included.

One facet of Dex’s character that many fans have been perplexed by is just how often he seems to screw things up. This is unheard of when it comes to Sonny’s typical associates. Why does Dex keep making missteps, and why is’t he trying to rectify them when he does? Remaining tight-lipped with a boss who is ready to have you sliced and diced if you don’t speak up isn’t very wise in terms of self-preservation. Does this guy have a death wish? Is he hoping to get caught?

Way back in his high school days — before Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) became a frontline enforcer and best friend to a major mob boss — he was just another Quartermaine on the rise who fell for the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Karen Wexler (Marie Wilson) went on to get involved with Sonny and a number of other bad influences that led her to stripping, drugs, and a life of being beat down.
She skipped town in 1993 but hopped back over to Port Charles from time to time over the years before her death in 2003. Little was known about Karen’s life outside of Port Chuck, but more will be revealed when the truth surfaces that Dex is actually Jason’s son.

Dex blames Sonny for the way Jason’s life turned out. Even in presumed death, Jason was doing Sonny’s bidding. Who might he have been if he wasn’t in that accident and wouldn’t have been so embraced by Sonny and his world of crime? Could he have been a father to Dex? Perhaps, but Karen wouldn’t allow it after finding out the path Jason took in life. Dex is back to avenge Jason’s death — and the life together he thinks Sonny stole from both of them. Love your writing! But this scenario makes no sense. On screen, Jason and Karen graduated in 1993. The next year in 1994, Karen and Jagger got married and left town. Karen returned to town in 1997 to be an intern at General Hospital on the spin-off “Port Charles”. There was no window of time for Karen to have had Jason’s baby.
I think it is a far better idea that Dex is actually AJ’s son! That would give Dex a solid motive to want to bring Sonny down as Sonny murdered AJ in cold blood. Dex HAS to have a very personal reason to want to destroy Sonny otherwise his character makes no sense, and is just a sociopathic nobody.
As AJ’s son, Dex would provide another much needed Quartermaine. He would be Michael’s brother. I havent given much thought to who his mother could be, but she doesnt have to be someone who is familiar to the audience.
It could have been someone AJ met offscreen, or someone he didnt know very well. I cant remember exactly who AJ was involved with during that time period (1996-1999) when Dex would have been conceived and born, but I would buy ANY twist that makes Dex AJ’s son.
