General Hospital Spoilers: GH Alum Rick Hearst Joins Cast Of Ambitions

Rick Hearst

General Hospital alum Rick Hearst is joining the cast of OWN’s “Ambitions” when it returns for its second season next week. The actor is expected to make his appearance as a savvy attorney later in the second half of the season.

Ambition’s Exec Producer Raves About Rick Hearst’s Guest Appearance

In an interview with Soap Hub, Ambitions creator and executive producer, Jamey Giddens, said, “We have a most special guest star in multi-Daytime Emmy winner Rick Hearst.”

“He shows up in a very pivotal moment as Jerry Lanigan, a hotshot criminal attorney, who went to law school at Harvard with Stephanie Carlisle (Robin Givens) and Evan Lancaster (Brian J. White),” he continued.

Giddens teased that fans will see how Evan and Stephanie interact with people they’re actually friends with and those they don’t blackmail.

He added that Rick is perfect for the role. “He’s basically playing a white Johnnie Cochran. It’s a fun role and people will want to tune in for that,” he explained.

Transition From General Hospital To Primetime

Hearst isn’t new to this kind of role. Viewers may recall that he’s previous role on “General Hospital,” Ric Lansing, was a lawyer. So, he’ll definitely do well. His episode on “Ambition” is set to air on December 4.

If there’s one notable thing about Hearst, it’s the fact that he appeared on all the soaps that are still on air until today. Apart from playing Ric, he had a gig on “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Whipple “Whip” Jones III, as Matt Clark on “The Young and the Restless,” and as Scott “Scotty” Banning II #3 on “Days of Our Lives.”

Rick Hearst’s Personal Life and Career

Hearst was born in Howard Beach but grew up in Dallas, Texas. He has two sons with Donna Smoot. Hearst’s first movie role was in “Brain Damage,” which was directed by Frank Henenlotter.

His other acting credits include “Guiding Light” where he played Alan-Michael Spaulding, “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Jenny,” and “Pacific Blue.”

His excellent performance in “General Hospital” has earned him seven Daytime Emmy Awards nominations. He won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category twice, in 2004 and 2007. He also won the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for “Guiding Light in 1991. He also got four nominations for Soap Opera Digest Awards and won the Outstanding Villain category for his role in “The Young and the Restless” in 2001.
