Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) was his wife — and his ride-or-die girlfriend for many years prior. But domestic life had an impact on Sam, making her long to settle down, and Jason wasn’t in agreement.

Ultimately, their marriage didn’t last. Jason’s time with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) was cut short by similar realities.

She didn’t want to raise her son with Jason, knowing his line of work presented so many dangers to the young man. Last but not least, Jason’s latest marriage — to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) — was annulled. But is she still holding out hope for rekindling?

Let’s be honest. Sam was tired of Jason before he ever left. She didn’t grieve his death the same way many others did. Somehow, Sam did a total about-face in the year leading up to Jason’s presumed death

She started losing respect for him, and she clearly stopped loving him the same way she used to. Some argue that her love for her children and their safety became her primary focus.

Most agree that’s the way it should be, but it never made much sense given that she knew for years what Jason was about — and that’s the man she fell for.

This time around, she’s furious that Jason may have harmed Dante, but will learning of proof that he didn’t shoot Dante change Sam’s feelings toward him? It’s not likely.

Jason and Elizabeth burned hot and heavy for what seems like the blink of an eye compared to his love affairs with Sam and Carly. Elizabeth will always have a place in her heart for Jason.

After all, he is the father of her middle son, Jake Spencer (Hudson West). But Elizabeth also appreciates a man who brings about less danger in her life.

Dipping her toes back into the past with Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) recently was all the reminder Elizabeth needed that she’s right where she belongs with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton).

General Hospital Spoilers — Carly Spencer Is Waiting

Of course, we’re all on pins and needles wondering if Jason’s return home is going to give him a chance to make it work with Carly. At long last, these two may have a shot together.

Decades of friendship have culminated in a love that both of them would readily admit they don’t share with anyone else and never have.

Carly hasn’t even felt the way she feels about Jason, for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Likewise, Jason never felt this way about Sam. With Sonny and Sam both ticked at Jason — and Carly in his corner — are we witnessing the foundation building for these two lovebirds to rekindle their romance?
