Also known as Robin Scorpio on “General Hospital,” Kimberly McCullough has returned behind the camera to work as a director. She recently directed the 12th episode of Fox’s “Almost Family.”
The actress shared the news on Instagram. “Just finished my directors cut. What a treat this show was to direct. Absolutely loved this DP [Director of Photography] and of course all of the actors” she said. Aside from “Almost Family,” McCullough also directed “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and an episode of “The Bold Type.”
The Plot
“Almost Family” is a story about Julia Bechley (Brittany Snow), the only child of Leon Bechley (Timothy Hutton). She learns that her father, who is an acclaimed and pioneering fertility doctor, throughout his career, used his own sperm to father a hundred children.
Julia finds out that she has two new sisters, her former best friend Edie Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and an ex-Olympic athlete, Roxy Doyle (Emily Osment).
The three young women try to cope that they’re family while Julia learns how to live without her father. Meanwhile, Edie’s marriage hits the rocks and she comes to grips with her sexuality. On the other hand, Roxy goes on with her life, leaving the spotlight behind.
These three women will form an unconventional bond as sisters, knowing that they will meet their other siblings eventually. The show is based on the Australian TV series called “Sisters.” It was recreated for American viewers by Annie Weisman and executive producer Jason Katims.
“Almost Family” premiered last October 2 and it is set to return on January 1, 2020. The episode that McCullough directed is scheduled to air on January 22.
