General Hospital (GH) star Dominic Zamprogna recently said his final farewell. The actor is stepping down from his role as Dante to take on other projects in the entertainment industry.
Dominic confirmed his exit and tweeted to his fans, “The love you guys have given me over the years and continue to give me is overwhelming. Thank you so much.”
Dominic’s co-stars also had a few words to say about the actor and his time at Port Charles. Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny on the show, recently told ABC Soaps in Depth, “I consider Dominic a great actor – and I don’t use the word ‘great’ lightly. He can act from a quiet place and he can also act bigger than that if he needs to. I love that. He’s the son of Sonny, and that’s special to me. Their relationship is very interesting. He’s also my great friend. He’s special and the character’s special. I’m sad to see him go… but I expect big things.”
Now, as far as whether or not Dominic will ever reprise his role as Dante remains to be seen. Just last week he did say though that General Hospital producers were looking to recast the role. And if they do, he wouldn’t mind giving his input on who the show should hire next. After all, if there is one person who knows the character very well, it’s Dominic himself!
