General Hospital Spoilers: Maxie Gets The Wrong Idea About Britt And Austin

General Hospital spoilers reveals Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) has been struggling to understand why her boyfriend, Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) is so darn busy lately. Surgery after surgery seems to keep him away from her these days, and it’s become rather impossible to even score time for lunch with the guy.

According to General Hospital spoilers, Maxie recently asked Austin whether all of these surgeries were just an excuse for something else — he acted as though that was a ridiculous question, gaslighting Maxie like she was making up the conundrum in her head. Is the hospital really that busy all of a sudden? No one else she knows working there seems to be so swamped. When Maxie casually prompts an answer to that question from Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), she’s not going to like her response — or what follows it.

General Hospital Spoilers — A Surge In Surgeries

When Maxie mentions to Britt how busy the hospital seems to be lately, without mentioning her impression is solely stemming from her interactions with Austin, Britt is going to respond confused. She won’t appear to know what Maxie is talking about, and that’s just going to confirm Maxie’s suspicions that more is going on with Austin than meets the eye. Why isn’t he wanting to spend time with her anymore? If he’s done with the relationship, why not just say so? Is there someone else — someone that he may not feel kosher moving on with?

GH Spoilers – Indicate Britt Westborne Jumps To Cover For Austin Holt 

When Maxie explains that she assumed there was an increase in demand for surgery at GH because Austin has been so busy performing them, Britt is going to realize she unknowingly walked into a bit of a trap. Not wanting to be caught up in the relationship drama between another couple, she could skirt the question and tell Maxie it’s best if she has that discussion with Austin.

However, Britt is probably feeling a bit indebted to him now after how helpful and supportive he has been in recent weeks as she is coming to terms with the progression of Huntington’s Disease ravaging her life. So Britt just might go out on a limb for Austin and claim she knows he’s been very busy. Maybe people are requesting him as their doctor, and for good reason, because he’s a great physician. Maybe Britt will note there have been a few layoffs or other surgeons leaving and that has left Austin bearing the brunt of their caseload. It’s unclear right now how she’s going to stick up for Austin, but it won’t fly over Maxie’s head that she does.

Prior to this conversation, Maxie was a bit lost and wondered why Austin’s behavior had changed. Other than his cousin, Mason (Nathanyael Grey) coming to town, nothing has changed in Austin’s life that Maxie is aware of. Nothing except his interest in her, that is. Now that she is seeing a change in Britt’s behavior, too — specifically as she is linked to Austin, she might start to wonder if there is something going on between them. When she walks in on a private conversation they’re having soon about Britt’s diagnosis — something Maxie isn’t yet aware of — she’s going to know they’re keeping a secret from her.
