General Hospital Spoilers: The Pikeman Group Was A Set-Up, And Sonny Will Never Believe Who’s Behind It

General Hospital spoilers reveal Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) approached Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) more than a year ago about the Pikeman Group — a federal defense contractor looking for a way to move weapons through Port Charles’ mob territory. The mafia boss took the bait. All this time, Sonny was so focused on his personal life with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) that he barely noticed her ex-husband was setting him up to take a massive fall. Wait a minute, we thought Valentin just wanted Nina to be happy.

Sure he does, but not with another mobster who’s likely to get her hurt. Valentin saw an opportunity to take down Sonny and Nina would never have to know that he was behind it. In fact, someone else wanted to scoop up all the acclaim.

General Hospital Spoilers — Sonny Corinthos Fell For It

Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) has been worried that her ex-husband is off his game, and she might be right. In the past, Sonny would never have let someone like Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) infiltrate his business without noticing. He’s too sharp for that. Likewise, he never would’ve jumped into bed with a person like Valentin without vetting every inch of the deal. But apparently, Valentin has been able to pull the wool over Sonny’s eyes. The mobster fell for his game, and now he’s in deep with a federal defense contractor that is out to get him.

Valentin might have set these wheels in motion, but he’s not the only bad guy at play here. Dex was spying on Sonny for the better part of the past year, collecting information for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to use against his father. The plan? To turn Sonny in to the feds and put him behind bars for the rest of his life. But that’s not what happened. Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) found out what her husband was up to and put the kibosh on the whole plan. Then, Carly learned what her son was doing and she upped the ante. Now, Michael has found himself working in favor of his father, but is that what his real goal is?

General Hospital Spoilers — Michael Corinthos Was The Mastermind

As far as Carly knows, Michael‘s only interest is keeping his father safe — protecting him from himself. It seems like Dex is genuinely interested in keeping Sonny safe. That part may be true. But Michael may have gone rogue at this point and has not clued Dex into the reality of what he’s up to. In fact, all that Dex had to know this whole time was that Michael had hired him. He had no clue Michael was working with Valentin or that Pikeman was in on the deal. It was all a massive setup, put in place to let Sonny take the fall. Now, the worst has yet to come, and when it does, Michael will relish seeing his father carted off the Pentonville. Perhaps he’ll share a cell with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
