Viewers may recall that Vinessa Antoine left “General Hospital,” where she played the role of Jordan Ashford, back in 2018. Although it’s been a while since her departure, the actress has opened up about her exit on the show in an interview with TV Water Cooler.
General Hospital News – Her Exit Was A Shocker
The actress admitted that she thought she’d get to stay on “General Hospital.” Since leaving the show never crossed her mind, Antoine thought she was going on a little sabbatical just like what the sudser did with the other performers. Unfortunately, the show had other plans and that included recasting the role.
GH News – Antoine Wanted To Do The Wedding Scene
“We had all these plans to do this really cool wedding and of course when we’ve got all this wonderful footage of Curtis and Jordan from over the years. We could have cut together this really cool walk down memory lane and we thought of some wonderful songs that spoke to their relationship.”
“[The opportunity] to get to do a wedding after for that soap couple would have been icing on the cake! I really wanted to give the audience that moment,” she said.
“As much as I am happy to be where I am now, I think that [not getting to do that wedding]will always be a sore spot for me. I wanted to give the audience that soap opera wedding moment. It’s something we all crave,” she added.

General Hospital News – Will GH Ever Be A More Inclusive Medium?
Antoine praised “The Young and the Restless” for its inclusivity, citing the pairing of Kristoff St. John and Victoria Rowell. She said that it would be Y&R that could bring black pairings to the forefront.
She doesn’t think other soaps including “General Hospital” have the capacity to do the same thing.
“Some people use to make the joke, “General Hospital? Generally White Hospital.” It’s a generally white show. That’s just the way it is,” she explained.
“I think that if you get hired on that show as a person of color, you do the best you can. It’s good to work. But, you’re not going to be someone who is on the forefront,” she continued.
Antoine currently stars on “Diggstown,” which is back for its second season. The actress takes on the role of Marcie Diggs, a corporate lawyer who helps fight injustice within her community.
