General Hospital Spoilers indicate Virginia Benson’s (Lois Nettleton) role in her daughter, Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) life isn’t over yet. After Carly’s plane was grounded in Jacksonville, her hometown, she took the opportunity to visit her mother’s grave and chit-chat with locals. Embracing her hometown seemed appealing until a run-in with Peyton Honeycutt (Linda Purl) — mother of Carly’s childhood friend Reese Marshall (Kari Wuhrer). Peyton and Carly hardly ended on good terms given that Carly seduced Peyton’s husband. Could Virginia’s “death” have something to do with Carly’s mistake all those years ago?
General Hospital Spoilers – Who Was Virginia Benson?
Carly’s adoptive mother was a reasonable woman with good enough morals. She tried hard to teach her daughter right from wrong, but Carly (who grew up as Caroline) — knew she was abandoned by her adoptive father, Frank Benson (James Patrick Stuart), at the tender age of just four years old. As a young adult, Caroline found that lies and seduction were easy ways to integrate herself into relationships with others. She lied about who she was to Bobbie Spencer, her birth mother, upon first meeting her, as well as many others in Port Charles.
When Carly’s uncle, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) went to Florida in search of Caroline — the baby girl his sister Bobbie had given up for adoption years prior — because his own daughter, Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) was in desperat need of a bone marrow transplant and he thought Caroline could be a match. After his encounter with Virignia, who had no idea where “Caroline” was, he began to put the pieces together that would eventually help reveal Caroline was Carly.
When Virginia later came to Port Charles and met with Carly again after a period of estrangement, she was beside herself that Carly had told so many lies about who she was, and the identity of the father of her brand new son, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). A few years later, Virginia allegedly died from a stroke.
GH Spoilers — Virginia Benson Is Alive!
It’s been 24 years since Virginia Benson allegedly died. Carly moved away from Jacksonville and into Port Charles, where she forged a rocky start to a relationship with her birth mother. She never entertained the idea that Virginia was still carrying on with her life back in Florida, or anywhere for that matter.

Wow….another person who doesn’t know about the existence of a parent?? How many more ways can they spin this topic for a storyline.
PC seems to be filled with some pretty screwed up people. They either don’t know they have a child, or they don’t know who their child is or where the child is (have a few of those), someone else doesn’t know who their parent is (we have several of those too), or they minor someone but don’t know they are their parent or that the person is their child, etc, etc, etc!!
Really???? This is the best these writers can do???
An occasional occurrence of this nature is one thing. But to just keep re-writing it a little different and repeating it over and over??
I hope Carly goes threw Hell and more she deserves every bit of harsh consequences of action that she has done wrong horrible things to so many women and so many people..GH writer’s bring it on ,it’s time for Carly to face Hell..Pay Backs a b-i-t-c-h and she deserves every bit of it..
@Nanlee – Carly HAS done some awful things that have hurt people, but I dare say over the course of our lives there are few of us that haven’t. Carly has grown and matured into a woman who loves and fiercely protects her family and people she loves, even if her methods are somewhat questionable at times. There are plenty of people in the fictional town of Port Charles who have done worse and STILL continue to do so without a hint of remorse or admission of their wrong-doing.
