General Hospital Spoilers: What To Expect When You’re Expecting In Port Charles

General Hospital spoilers reveals every woman in Port Charles knows the risk of having a baby in that town. Whether it’s an unexpected surprise following a one-night stand with a crime boss, or it’s a long-awaited child a longtime couple has tried their hardest to conceive, pregnancy isn’t without its ups and serious down’s in this New York metropolis. Sometimes, the pregnancy goes left before conception even occurs.

Other times, women barely make it out of the labor and delivery ward alive — if they even make it there. More often, couples go home with a baby that isn’t the one they arrived with. Here are a few things to watch out for if you find yourself expecting in Port Charles.

General Hospital Spoilers – Hint Pregnancies Don’t Always Happen The Old-Fashioned Way

When you’re a woman in Port Charles, you’re very fortunate if you get knocked up the way your mother and grandmother did. For women who have to seek other means, the threat of additional children they didn’t plan for, and stolen babies, are a reality they must be able to live with. For example, when Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) decided to have a child, they needed to use IVF. But their embryo was implanted into someone else — Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and they found out only after the child was born. So much for family planning!

GH Spoilers — Childbirth Is Rarely Uneventful

Come extra prepared when traveling through Port Charles when you’re pregnant. A roadside stop could quickly turn into an unplanned childbirth experience. Just ask Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). Maxie gave birth to her son James West (Owen and Curtis Rufca) with only Peter August (Wes Ramsey) at her side, and quite literally on the side of the road. Her third child, Bailey Louise Jones (Landon and Jett Prinzo-Berendt), was born in the woods while she was on the run from the same psychopathic killer, Peter.

General Hospital Spoilers — Stolen Babies Happen Regularly

Sometimes a baby is intentionally given to someone else, such as Maxie giving Bailey Lou to Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and pretending she was kidnapped. Other times, babies are actually stolen — just as Bailey Lou later was by her father, Peter.

GH Spoilers – Indicate Baby Swaps Aren’t Off The Table Either

There are two kinds of baby swaps in Port Charles: the kind that happens during pregnancy, and the kind that happens after birth. For Lulu and Dante, their first attempt at parenthood was using their friend Maxie as a surrogate. Maxie didn’t have the heart to tell them she miscarried their baby, and she succumbed to a one-night stand with Spinelli while trying to ease her heartache. When Spinelli and Maxie conceived a child that night, she continued to pass it off as Lulu and Dante’s daughter for as long as she could before it was revealed she was actually Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher).

Nelle Benson-Jerome (Chloe Lanier) also gave her baby, Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver), to Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) to pass off as his own after the child he adopted died. The swap led Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to believe his son had died, while Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) — who gave her child up for adoption — thought Wiley was her son for months before the truth came out that it was actually her child who died of SIDS.

General Hospital Spoilers — DNA Tests Are Always Fixed

While paternity tests have been known to be fixed at General Hospital, one shouldn’t be quick to assume they only happen where babies are concerned. Sometimes, full-grown men find out the truth as well. That was the case for Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) when they found out they were father and son — only to later find out that the test was fraudulent and Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) was Chase’s real father all along.
