General Hospital Spoilers: Who Will Win Custody of Wiley?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the central question on the minds of most fans is just who should win custody of little Wiley Cooper-Jones (Erik and Theo Olson). GH viewers know that the question is actually contentious because while a majority seem to believe that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) should win custody, there’s also a vocal minority, a “Team Nelle” that believes Wiley should be yanked from Michael’s grasp post haste!

General Hospital Spoilers – Michael Should Get Custody

GH fans know that when objectively comparing the backgrounds of Michael Corinthos and Nelle Benson, there’s really no question as to which of these two GH characters should wind up with full custody of Wiley. Michael has never committed murder for starters. Michael is well-known throughout the upper crust of Port Charles society. Additionally, if Wiley were in Michael’s custody he would never lack for anything. Michael is insanely wealthy due to his family connections.

Michael is also apparently a super genius (or someone with a major silver spoon and a lot of cronyism of which he isn’t ashamed to take advantage) since he’s one of the youngest CEO’s in all of America … perhaps the youngest!

Some fans might look at this all and say that surely Wiley deserves the chance to take lavish vacations to the beaches of Cabo, Mexico or the malls of Dubai. Never mind the fact that the Corinthos family is criminal in nature. Never mind that Michael grew up in the household of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), a man who has murdered to get what he wants. Never mind that Wiley would grow up around a dedicated family man who also happens to break all kinds of laws in order to get what 99% of other Americans only dream of. Of course, Michael should get custody of Wiley. Of course he should!

ABC General Hospital Soap Spoilers – Nelle Should Get Custody

Go Team Nelle! For these GH fans, Nelle isn’t a horrible sociopath. No, Nelle’s a rebel with a cause. Nelle is exactly as Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) has apparently seen her. Nelle is the victim of circumstance, a woman who may have done a lot of wrong but who desperately wants a chance at redemption. Additionally, these GH fans agree with Nina that every woman deserves to hold her own child in her arms. Nelle deserves the opportunity to allow motherhood to change her in the same manner that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) changed after Michael was born.

After all, wasn’t Carly mentally disturbed at one time? Didn’t Carly spend time in mental institutions more than once? Didn’t Carly sleep with just about every man in Port Charles whilst married to various other men? Didn’t Carly lie, cheat, and steal in order to obtain the life she wanted?

Look at Carly now! She is one of the richest women in all of Port Charles and she enjoys the status of being the wife of Sonny Corinthos, one of the most powerful men in town!

If people were willing to see past Carly’s obvious flaws and offer her real forgiveness, why should Nelle have to languish in the dark as the pariah of Port Charles? Why can’t Nelle have the opportunity to turn her life around and give Wiley whatever love she has to give?

And, who says that Nelle has to have full custody? She might get it anyway, but viewers should remember that she offered to co-parent with Michael … an offer Michael threw back in her face.

The Quartermaine’s might look down their noses at Nelle because she’s not the richest woman in town, but due to her sale of the ELQ shares she once had, she isn’t a woman wallowing in poverty either. Nelle might not be able to drag Wiley all over creation or take him for vacations in The Hamptons, but Wiley would be okay. Most Americans do just fine without crystal drinkware or playing golf in Martha’s Vinyard!

General Hospital Spoilers – Neither Nelle or Michael Should Get Custody

Shockingly, some GH fans actually believe that neither Nelle or Michael deserve to win custody of Wiley at all. These are two gigantically self-absorbed individuals. It’s been argued on multiple occasions that the Port Charles family court ought to actually award full custody of Wiley to Lucas Jones (Ryan Carnes). Why?

Because Lucas was Wiley’s primary caretaker for the majority of Wiley’s short life. There has been no legal transfer of custody from Lucas to Michael. The fact that Michael is Wiley’s biological father at this point doesn’t really matter. Wiley’s emotional stability, his living situation, all of that matters.

Lucas is a well-known, successful doctor. Lucas is well respected within his profession. Lucas has no murders or manslaughters or fraud or any other super felonious acts in his background. Lucas apparently has nowhere near the skeletons in his closet that Nelle and Michael do. Lucas deserves to get Wiley back. Yet, GH fans know that’s not likely to happen.

One thing is certain no matter who gets custody of Wiley … the entire court battle to date has been a horrific, disappointing farce.
