GH spoilers reveal that in October 2021, there was word that Sydney was leaving the ABC soap. The actress wanted to work on her education and had been accepted to UCLA. In fact, Showbiz Cheatsheet stated that Sydney applied to 14 universities and was accepted at every single one. In the end, Sydney decided to attend UCLA.

Soap Opera Network reported that Sydney would drop from full-time to recurring on the ABC soap. That was clearly done so Sydney could concentrate on her studies. However, being an actress or working any job while pursuing a college education can be grueling. So, it’s understandable that she wants to put 100 percent of her concentration on her studies.

GH Spoilers – Statements Issued

SOD obtained a statement from Sydney, who confirmed she is saying goodbye. The actress feels that now is the right time to leave and really enjoy her college experience to the fullest. There are no hard feelings and in fact, Sydney said that playing Trina has been one of the best experiences in her acting career.

In that same interview with the magazine, showrunner Frank Valentini added his own statement.

“We’re excited to welcome Tabyana Ali and see what she’ll do with the role of Trina.”

Even though recasts are tough for a lot of soap fans, everyone seems to be welcoming and understanding of Trina’s character. Credited as Tabyana Ford, the actress was a contestant on Win, Lose or Draw in 2014.
