General Hospital Spoilers: Will Spencer Ever Forgive Nikolas?

General Hospital; Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) may have a hard time forgiving his father, Nikolas Cassadine. GH fans know that’s because of abandonment issues. Nikolas did some horrible things and it may take a miracle for forgiveness to occur.

General Hospital Spoilers  – Spencer Cassadine’s Angry

Many GH fans might agree that there is something visceral in the level of gut-wrenching anger that arises when one thinks of a parent abandoning a child. Now, if one were the child who was abandoned, as Spencer was by Nikolas Cassadine, one might imagine that anger being more than others could comprehend. GH viewers know that Nikolas Cassadine “abandoned” Spencer three years ago. Although Nikolas has told himself and others that he always intended to go back (which he did do) and reveal the truth to his son, he allowed too much time to pass.

Instead of at least secretly letting Spencer know that he was alive, Nikolas allowed his son to believe that he had been killed. Then, as Spencer mourned what he believed to be his father’s murder, Nikolas selfishly sought to regain his family’s fortune. Lying to himself and others became routine for The Prince of Nothing, and Spencer apparently paid the price.

GH Spoilers – Spencer Cassadine’s Forgiveness Won’t Come Easy

The truth is that most people have a very hard time forgiving abandonment issues. That may also be the case for Spencer. GH fans know that Spencer has time to grow and to heal. He didn’t grow into adulthood believing that his father was dead. Yes, Spencer thought that he was an orphan for far too long, and yes, Nikolas did effectively abandon him for three years. However, Spencer’s wasn’t a lifetime of abandonment.

There are two paths, in all actuality that could lead to Spencer “forgiving” Nikolas. One could be considered true forgiveness, and the other could be considered buying. They say that time is a healer, and if Spencer sees Nikolas attempting on a consistent basis to make amends … in a way that is neither selfish and that expects nothing in return, it could be possible that Spencer’s heart will soften. It’s possible that Spencer might come to understand that his father is only human and that humans sometimes make terrible mistakes. If Spencer can see his own humanity and potential for mistakes it possible that Spencer might truly find it within himself to forgive his father.

The other way Nikolas might find forgiveness is if Spencer begins to emulate him. Some believe that if Spencer becomes a cold-hearted manipulator like everyone else with the last name Cassadine, he may attempt to get Nikolas simply to buy him off. For example, if Nikolas ensures that the Cassadine fortune falls into Spencer’s hands and his hands alone … while paying for all his pleasures until that inheritance is his … perhaps Spencer might force himself to be cordial to his dear old dad.

General Hospital Spoilers – Spencer Cassadine Is A Good Kid

Up until now, GH fans may agree that Spencer’s been a good kid. It’s more than likely that the first scenario is actually what will happen. Spencer will find it within himself to truly forgive Nikolas over time. This could be especially true if Spencer hears the story of Sonny and his father, and if Spencer gets the chance to see how Sonny and Mike’s relationship is vastly different today than it was in years past.

Moreover, while some GH fans have no pity for Nikolas, one might still hope that he has the chance to redeem himself in his son’s eyes.
