General Hospital spoilers and news reveal that the ABC soap opera has lost a fan favorite. Reports hit the internet this afternoon confirming that GH actress Sonya Eddy has passed away at the young age of 55 years old. Sonya has played the part of head nurse Epiphany Johnson on the daytime drama since 2006. Eddy has been a huge part of the soap’s iconic Nurses Ball for many years as well.
Octavia Spencer Reveals Sonya Eddy Passed Away
Hollywood icon Octavia Spencer, a close friend of Eddy’s, broke the news on social media. Octavia wrote on Instagram, “My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her.” And, that certainly is the truth, to say that Sonya Eddy will be missed will be an under statement. So far there is no news on what caused Sonya Eddy’s death.
Sonya Eddy has been in the acting game for over thirty years, and began taking on small roles in 1996. Ironically, over half of her roles over the years has been as a nurse or someone in the medical field. More recently Sonya Eddy has appeared on some popular series like 2 Broke Girls, Castle, Girl Meets World, and Adam Ruins Everything.
How Will Port Charles say Goodbye To Epiphany
General Hospital usually films a month in advance, and seeing as it’s the holidays in Port Charles, there’s a good chance we will get to see some scenes that were already filmed featuring Epiphany Johnson. There’s no news yet on how General Hospital will honor the late actress, but surely the cast and crew will do her justice. As more details come forward regarding Sonya Eddy’s death, we will be sure to pass them on. Keep checking Celebrating The Soaps for more General Hospital spoilers, news, and updates.
