Candace Cameron Bure reveals hopes for new faith-based movie
Three months after Candace Cameron Bure, 46, was branded a “bigot” over her “traditional marriage” views, she is back in the headlines. This time she is praising the new Kelsey Grammer movie, Jesus Revolution on her Instagram.
Readers will recall that the Full House star sparked controversy after saying that, working with Great American Family, she will be focusing on “traditional marriage.” She then slammed Hallmark for making movies about same-sex couples.
About Jesus Revolution
As noted by MailOnline, the Kelsey Grammer-led movie, Jesus Revolution is based on the true story of the late hippie preacher, Lonnie Frisbee. In the movie, Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss portrays a Vietnam veteran, battling an addiction to drugs.
In the former Hallmark star’s post on Instagram, she shared a trailer for the movie and captioned the post:
@jesusrevolutionmovie hits theaters THIS FRIDAY, February 24th which means if you didn’t have any weekend plans, now you do!
Ultimately I pray this movie is used for His glory, and for people to hear the gospel and turn to Jesus.
Controversy over Candace Cameron Bure
Bure faced criticism after an interview with the Wall Street Journey. In that interview, she said her new feel-good network, Great American Family, would not feature gay couples in lead roles. She compared this to Hallmark Channel, where she previously starred.
In fact, Candace had previously announced she would leave the Hallmark Channel in April last year. This came two years after the feel-good network released its first LGBTQ holiday movie, starring a gay couple.
Bure went on to explain that she wanted to “tell stories that have more meaning” while working with the Great American Family network. She revealed she was moving to that network as it is a better fit for her “brand,” saying:
I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose. GAC fits my brand perfectly; we share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family.
Bure added that her new network would always keep traditional marriage at its core, saying:
My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them.
I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.
