While she attracted criticism for her move to Great American Family, and for slamming Hallmark Channel’s “inclusive” policies, she must have done something good. The 30th Annual Movieguide Awards were held on Friday, where the actress won the Best Family Television prize and the Grace Award for TV performance.

While fans might not have heard of the Movieguide awards, they have been dubbed the “Christian Oscars” as they like to celebrate wholesome and uplifting Christian entertainment.

Candace Cameron Bure won two awards for producing and starring in A Christmas… Present. This was Bure’s first, holiday movie for Great American Family and was produced under her Candy Rock Entertainment banner. Meanwhile, the holiday movie premiered in November as part of the network’s Great American Christmas lineup. As for Bure, she played the role of a real estate mom opposite Marc Blucas and Paul Fitzgerald.

As noted by Deadline, Bure shared the news on Instagram on Sunday with various photos taken at the event. In her caption, she thanked the network and its Chief Executive, Bill Abbott, writing:

For being unashamed to share scripture and the name of Jesus on cable television and for your dedication to faith and family entertainment.

Meanwhile, another controversial former Hallmark star was at the event, as Lori Loughlin posed with her friend Candace.

After being a major part of Hallmark Channel movies, Bure signed a contract with GAC Media last summer. She is to develop, produce and star in movies and TV shows for GAC Family and GAC Living. Moreover, the Full House star also took an executive role in the company, overseeing and curating programming. This led to her controversial interview with The Wall Street Journal. In that interview, she stressed that Great American Family wants always to keep “traditional marriage at the core.”

This statement didn’t sit well with a number of her former co-stars, with actress Hilarie Burton calling her a “bigot.” Meanwhile, social media went wild about what they saw as veiled homophobia. Meanwhile, another former Hallmark star, Neal Bledsoe, left Great American Family over Bure’s comments. However, other former Hallmark stars did come to Bure’s rescue, including Danica McKellar.

Readers can watch the 30th Annual Movieguide Awards on the feel-good streamer service, UPtv on February 26.
