At Christmas Con 2024 in Edison, New Jersey, Russell shared an intriguing tidbit with fans about his casting in the show; he suggested that the producers might not have realized his previous collaboration with Cindy Busby. “I don’t know if you all know this, but Cindy and I have a history,” he told the audience; “We’ve actually worked together on four films.

So, when I got the offer to play the new Mountie in town, I think I was mistakenly included in an email thread that I shouldn’t have seen. That’s when I discovered that Cindy Busby was also joining the cast. And that was that.”

I was thinking, ‘You’d better make sure I’m part of that;” Russell shared that he’ll be portraying a Mountie in the upcoming season, while Busby will join the cast as Nora. He hinted that viewers should brace themselves for a slow-building romance this season, set to debut in January. “Expect some family-friendly fun, a lot of heartfelt moments, and trust me, there’s going to be romance,” he teased. “Some characters are bound to fall in love, and there might even be a kiss—who knows, Busby also hinted at the exciting possibility of Russell’s character shedding some layers this season. “I really pushed for it,” she revealed-“I’m rooting for you all, okay-make sure to watch, but I’ll say this: that Mountie jacket is snug.

Great American Family Channel Spoilers – Busby Continued About The Mountie Costume

Busby continued talking about the Mountie jacket, saying it’s so snug you won’t need him to take it off; you can see everything with that jacket on.”

Busby and Russell have previously teamed up in Hallmark films such as Warming Up to You, Chasing Waterfalls, Love in the Forecast, and Wedding Bells.

Their upcoming season of When Hope Calls marks their fifth collaboration, adding to the excitement for fans eagerly awaiting the new episodes.

This series is a spinoff of the beloved Hallmark original, When Calls the Heart, which first aired on the Crown Media Network in early 2020. In 2021, Great American Family took the show under its wing and fans can look forward to a brand-new season nearly four years later.
