Hot Frosty is Chabert’s first original film for the streaming service, Netflix. The plot centers around a snowman (voiced by Dustin Milligan) who magically comes to life and falls in love with Chabert’s character, Kathy.

Since its release on November 13, it has consistently topped Netflix’s movie charts; “I’m thrilled that audiences are enjoying it,” she shares.

“Many viewers have told me, ‘I thought it would be just silly, but while it has its goofy moments, it’s genuinely funny and filled with heart;’ I didn’t anticipate that. Hearing such a positive response truly means a lot to me-I’m just delighted that it’s adding to the festive spirit of the holiday season for so many this year.”

The film features two delightful cameos: one from Lindsay Lohan, who starred alongside Chabert in Mean Girls, and the other from Chrishell Stause of Selling Sunset fame. Soap opera viewers may also recognize Chrishell from her past role as Jordan Ridgway on Days of Our Lives.

Chabert shares, “Lindsay and I have been friends since childhood, and I’m thrilled that our journeys keep intersecting-” she adds, “Chrishell is absolutely wonderful. It was my first time meeting her, and she was incredibly kind and hilarious. Although we only had one day together, she arrived eager to dive in and we had a fantastic time filming her scene.”

Chabert is excited about the strong viewership for Hot Frosty, but she’s equally eager for the debut of The Christmas Quest, which represents a significant milestone for her at Hallmark.

“This is my 41st movie with Hallmark, and it’s the 15th Christmas film, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of [Hallmark’s] Countdown to Christmas,” she shares. “I feel incredibly honored to be part of this tradition each year, and bringing joy into people’s homes is something I cherish deeply; I’m truly grateful for the ongoing support.”

In this film, Chabert explains, “we take the audience on an amazing journey through Iceland.” She adds, “My character, Stefanie, and her ex-husband Chase, portrayed by Kristoffer Polaha, embark on a treasure hunt-we filmed in lava caves, on ice glaciers, by waterfalls, and hiked in stunning locations.”

Chabert, who has previously visited Belgium, Ireland, and South Africa for Hallmark projects, was thrilled to travel again. “Iceland truly plays a big role in this film,” she shares; “It’s a destination I’ve always dreamed of seeing, and filming a movie there was just incredible.”

However, the weather was challenging; “We were there in March and April, and it was really cold, which is tough for me since I’m not used to it,” she explains.

“Having lived in Southern California for 25 years, I wasn’t used to the chill-the third day of shooting, they got me a heated vest to wear under my jacket. I ended up wearing three or four shirts, several pairs of pants, and the heated vest beneath my puffer jacket.

Every day, I looked around and thought, ‘This is incredible. I can’t believe I’m filming a movie in such a beautiful place.’ The cold weather wasn’t the only issue I faced, she shares; “On the second day, we arrived at the base of this ice glacier,” Chabert remembers. “Our amazing director, Dustin [Rikert], said, ‘When you reach the top of the glacier, we’ll send up the drone to film you walking around and doing your lines.’

My first question was, ‘How do we get up there?’ -they replied, ‘You’ll be hiking.’” They strapped on the crampons, the spikes for our shoes, and I thought it would be great to capture some behind-the-scenes moments while we hiked up.

“Reminder: It might not be the best idea to use your phone while climbing an ice glacier-I stumbled a few times, but my amazing partner, Kris, was there to help me up. We also had a guide named David, who kept us safe during the climb; it was truly an incredible adventure filled with laughter”.

This is an unusual situation when making a movie-usually stunt people are used for the more dangerous work, but in this case, Lacey and the others did it all, although with help. The hiking isn’t so dangerous, but hiking in freezing weather and up possibly slippery slopes could have been!

Hallmark Spoilers – The First Time Working With Her Co-Star

The Christmas Quest is the first collaboration between Chabert and Polaha, both experienced Hallmark actors. Chabert shares, “We knew each other from events and mutual friends, and I admired his work a lot-I wanted to work with him for a long time.

Sometimes it seemed possible, but scheduling conflicts got in the way-but this opportunity was perfect for us to not only collaborate but also to create a meaningful film.

He is incredibly talented, kind, and wonderful. We were able to have our families with us during the Easter holiday, creating many special memories.”

After appearing in fifteen movies, Chabert feels grateful to be part of Hallmark’s holiday tradition for viewers-she shares, “I get thrilled to watch Christmas movies on TV, especially with my daughter. Knowing that I could be in a film that becomes a family tradition or one they want to see again next year is incredibly meaningful to me. I enjoy sharing these stories, whether they are Christmas films, love stories, or other holiday themes, and I appreciate our audience for being so kind and loyal in watching.” Her 8-year-old daughter, Julia, has turned into one of those devoted fans; “It was only a few years back that she realized these films were for everyone,” Chabert shares. “She asked me, ‘Mommy, do other people watch these movies too?’ I replied, ‘Absolutely, they’re not just for you.’”

Lacy continues, Little Julia started to connect the dots and realized why people occasionally approach them in public to talk about movies. It was endearing to discover that she believed they were made just for her all along.

The festive spirit is alive and thriving at Chabert’s home, where cherished traditions take center stage; “I’m quite the sentimental person,” she shares. “Our latest tradition is Elf on the Shelf, and we have a blast with our elves as they create mischief around the house. We start decorating early, showcasing a mix of vintage ornaments from my childhood, handmade treasures from her, and new additions we pick up each year.

We enjoy listening to Christmas tunes, baking my grandmother’s sweet potato pie and my great-grandmother’s coconut cake, and taking drives to admire the dazzling Christmas lights while sipping hot cocoa.

On Christmas Day, we don our matching family pajamas and spend the entire day in them, simply enjoying each other’s company.”
