A Librarian Wakes Up Inside Her Favorite Novel in An American In Austen on Hallmark

Hallmark Channel’s Loveuary with Jane Austen programming event continues with An American in Austen. Starring Eliza Bennett, Nicholas Bishop and Nell Barlow, the movie tells the story of a librarian who doesn’t believe any man can live up to Mr. Darcy.

According to the official synopsis, An American in Austen sees a devoted Austenite getting the chance to live out her Pride & Prejudice dreams.

When her longtime boyfriend surprises her with a proposal, Harriet (Bennett) isn’t sure of her answer and flees as she believes no man can match up to Mr. Darcy. Feeling exhausted, she falls asleep in the car on her ride home, only to awaken in a carriage, inside her favorite novel, Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice.

Harriet befriends her literary heroine, Elizabeth (Barlow) and the rest of the Bennett family. She then wows them with her uncanny knack for predicting the future. Meanwhile, her strange talent beguiles none other than Mr. Darcy himself (Bishop).

As her presence disrupts the story she loves so much, she begins to question her fantasies of Regency-Era life. Harriet must choose between this unexpected chance of love with the man she’s always dreamed of or her imperfect life back in her real world.

Eliza Bennett, who plays Harriet, has previously starred in Dynasty and The Conners. Nicholas Bishop, who plays Mr. Darcy, is known for his roles in A Paris Proposal and Lady Chatterley’s Lover. Meanwhile, Nell Barlow, who plays the role of Elizabeth, has previously starred in Doctor Thorne and Sweetheart.
