Hallmark Channel movie fans know that some actors and actresses repeatedly rise to the occasion to deliver memorable performances.
As a result, two Hallmark favorites, Alison Sweeney and Cameron Mathison, have fans hoping they’ll return.
And we’ve got the answer: Yes!
Find out below what Alison and Cameron spilled about their sizzling hot new Hallmark movie. And here’s a clue: This film casts both in a recurring role that’s sweet in every sense of the word!
Hallmark Channel News – Why Alison Sweeney Loves Starring In Hallmark Films
Although Alison Sweeney has not returned to her Hallmark movie role as Hannah Swensen since 2017, the actress hasn’t forgotten the joy she found in Hallmark films.
Now Alison rejoins Cameron Mathison in his role as Mike Kingston. And the two do a deep dive into yet another mystery in the new Hallmark movie, “Sweet Revenge.”
For those not familiar with this film series, Hannah Swensen is a fictional baker and amateur detective, making the “sweet” part of the title a very tasty pun! Hallmark based its movie series about this character on the cozy mysteries by Joanne Fluke.
Sweeney told Hollywood Life exactly why she loves her leading role in the Hannah Swensen Hallmark movie series.
“The fans really are such a big part of this story for me because we’ve had such amazing feedback from the fans over the years when they watch all of the Hannah movies and how involved they are and how much they care about these characters,” explained the actress.
As to why she decided to return at this point in her career? Alison explained that she truly cares about the fans.
“A part of me felt like I really didn’t want them to miss out on anything,” added Sweeney.
Hannah And Mike Take Fictional ‘Journey’ In Film
As to what will happen in the newest Hannah Swensen film on the Hallmark channel?
Alison didn’t give away any secrets. But she did reveal that the time lapse won’t detract from the continuity of the characters.
“I know that we played a bit of a tough passage of time, and it’s been several years since they’ve seen any movies,” admitted Sweeney. “When I’m really a fan of something and then get to see it on TV, I wouldn’t want to miss out on those moments.”
But she still felt that the fans deserved to travel “this journey with Hannah and Mike.”
Hallmark Teams With Alison Sweeney For Engagement
As a result of her views, Alison worked closely with the Hallmark Channel to figure out how to make Hannah’s engagement to Mike seem seamless despite the time lapse.
“Even though we are saying at the beginning that they’ve been engaged for six months, I think we’re still really trying to give the fans that sense of a new engagement,” explained Sweeney. “Everyone agreed at Hallmark that we wanted the fans to go along on this journey with us.”
Hallmark also worked with Alison to figure out how to show Hannah’s and Mike’s new relationship as they dive into another mystery.
But Hallmark and Sweeney weren’t alone in this endeavor, of course. Portraying Mike, Cameron Mathison also worked hard to mix drama with romance in the new film.
Cameron Mathison Explains His Role In New Hallmark Film
Reflecting on his own role in “Sweet Revenge,” Cameron Mathison clarified his character Mike’s relationship with Hannah from a fan perspective.
“It’s a cool dynamic for the fans of these movies to see how their relationship has progressed not only personally, but also in and around the murder mystery and solving this crime,” pointed out Cameron. “They are a real team now, and Mike’s actually got the challenge of answering to this agency boss that’s kind of come in to oversee it because of the big high profile case.”

As a result, rather than Hannah attempting to persuade Mike that she can join his detective work, Mike must take on the role of defending Hannah.
Mathison praised the writers for blending the romance with the mystery.
“It’s great to kind of see what they’ve gone through as a couple,” noted the actor.
And although the couple faces “hurdles” in their future, the engagement and wedding planning make their work life “tricky.”
For Cameron’s character Mike, worries over whether he and Hannah are “moving too fast” add to the stress.
“I love how the work-life seems to be more smooth, but now all of a sudden the personal life is getting a little challenging,” added Mathison.
