After her stunning locations in Greece and Bulgaria for The Wedding Veil trilogy in 2022, she’s ready to light up the screen again, this time alongside Ashley Williams in two films!

She’s not just a fantastic actress; she’s also a dear friend who never fails to make me laugh.” Their partnership blossomed one evening after a Hallmark event, and it’s been a long time coming.

“We’ve been dreaming about this for years,” Sweeney shares. “It all started at a Hallmark gathering three years ago, or maybe even longer, when we talked about our desire to collaborate.

Ashley has this incredible backstory about how the idea came to her; she asked me, ‘Ali, do you speak another language?’ I replied, ‘I speak Spanish,’ and that started it all.

Get ready for some exciting news; the talented Julie Sherman Wolfe, known for her recent success with the holiday blockbuster Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, is writing the upcoming films.

She has a remarkable track record of crafting beloved Christmas classics. Sweeney shares, “Julie had just celebrated the premiere of one of her incredible Christmas films, which turned out to be one of Hallmark’s top hits that year.

The three of us began brainstorming, and from that collaboration, this fantastic idea was born. We pitched it to Hallmark together, and now it’s actually coming to life! It’s just so thrilling!”

Hallmark Movie Spoilers: Filming Abroad Starts In February, Production Has Already Started

Filming overseas is set to kick off next month, and the actress is all set with her passport in hand.

“We’ll be shooting in various locations across Spain during February and March,” Sweeney reveals; “I can’t wait for it!” Meanwhile, production is already in full swing; “You caught me right after my wardrobe fitting,” Sweeney explains- “Ashley and I had an incredible time during the fitting.

Reading about your character is one thing, and Julie has crafted some fantastic roles, but when you try on the costumes and see yourself in the mirror, it transforms everything.

This character is completely different from me and unlike any role I’ve ever taken on, making it truly unique, especially with the wardrobe.

Alison expressed her excitement, saying, “It unleashes a torrent of ideas that bring the character to life in my mind, and it’s absolutely thrilling.” With her upcoming Hallmark Mystery film, Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, set to debut on February 6 at 8/7c, Sweeney contemplates  the hurdles she might encounter when filming begins in Spain. “I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity and can’t wait to shoot in a new country while honing my Spanish skills,” she shares. “I’ve always talked a big game and thought I was pretty good, but now I’ll be acting in Spanish and conversing with locals—let’s see how it goes!”
