Meanwhile, Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President, Programming, Hallmark Media told Deadline:

Alison Sweeney has been an incredible creative partner for us over the years – both on screen as well as behind the camera as a producer. She’s long been a fan favorite and we can’t wait to continue our work together as we bring new stories to life.

As for Sweeney herself, she said of the deal:

I am thrilled to continue to work with Hallmark as they continue to support my work as an actress and as a producer. I’m very proud of our Christmas movie and excited for the future projects to come!

Moreover, the last Hannah Swensen movie fans have seen was just over a year ago in August 2021. This was the sixth movie in the series and marked a rebranding after the first five movies were dubbed “Murder She Baked.”

Meanwhile, Alison’s first movie under her new contract is A Magical Christmas Village with Luke Macfarlane. According to the plot, Sweeney plays an architect named Summer, living in a small town, while raising her daughter, Chloe (Maesa Nicholson).

Her mother Vivian (Marlo Thomas) moves in with Summer and brings a Christmas village with her, known for granting wishes. It’s possible a wish could be the reason she meets Ryan (Macfarlane). Not only is Sweeney leading the movie, she is also executive producing.

Meanwhile, as recently reported, this is likely to be Luke Macfarlane’s last movie for Hallmark. In fact, he broke the news while filming the Christmas movie. Speaking to the LA Times, he said, “They’ve been very good to me, but I think I’ve told my story for now with those folks,” adding, “I mean, how many firefighters can I play?” Moreover, this will be the actor’s 14th movie with the network. Reportedly, Macfarlane’s own multi-picture deal expires this fall.

Speaking to Yahoo, Macfarlane said:

Hallmark gave me jobs for a long time. And not only just the gay best friend — they let me be a leading man. I’m always going to be very grateful to them for that.
