In an interview on the Hallmarkies Podcast, Acker opened up about how much fun it was to film “Crashing Through the Snow.” In fact, it was so much fun that one day, they “pretty much got in trouble” because they could not stop laughing.

“There are all these really funny moments already written in,” Amy said, adding, “And lots of pratfalls and super-awkward situations that are really fun.”

Hallmark News – Other Hallmark Christmas Movie Roles

This isn’t Amy’s first Hallmark Christmas movie, as her first was the 2011 film “Dear Santa,” which was directed by Jason Priestley. That film was about a wealthy woman who learns how to give to others, thanks to the spirit of Christmas.

In 2016, Acker starred in “A Nutcracker Christmas,” which involved the actress using her lifelong love of dance. Speaking of the role, Amy said, “They were like, ‘You do ballet,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah,’” while thinking back on her childhood lessons.

However, Acker soon realized her childhood lessons weren’t enough. When she discovered the producers wanted her en pointe, while dancing with professionals, she realized she needed to do something to up her ballet skills. Amy went on to practice with a coach, five hours a day, during the weeks leading up to filming of the Christmas movie.

Acker partnered with Sascha Radetsky in the movie, who has performed as a soloist in the past with American Ballet Theater. Her skill made Amy nervous. She said, “There were a couple of scenes where I was like, ‘I’m never going to be good.’”

“Sascha was like, ‘Amy, I’ve literally been dancing every day of my life for forty years. It’s okay,’” Acker added.

How Did Amy Get Her Start On TV?

For those who find Amy familiar, but cannot place where, she started out on television in the series “Angel,” a spinoff of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” In seasons 2 through 5 of the show, she played Winnifred “Fred”

Burkle. Following this, Acker went on to join the cast of “Alias,” starring Jennifer Garner, in the final season.
Amy said joining the Hallmark Channel in her first role was a big departure for her. “My mom was really excited that I wasn’t killing somebody,” she said.

Acker said how much she loves working with Hallmark, as they make movies that no one else does these days. “You used to get to watch these kinds of movies in the theater,” she said. “Now it’s rare that you get to see a romcom anywhere but Hallmark.”
