Sleuthers are no doubt celebrating the birth of a new, original detective series, The Spencer Sisters, which is already streaming on Hallmark+. The new series stars The Chicken Sisters and Back to the Future star Lea Thompson along with Schitt’s Creek and Hanukkah on the Rocks star, Stacey Farber. However, what is it all about?

According to the Hallmark+ synopsis, Darby Spencer is a police officer who has had enough of being overlooked for her efforts. She believes she would make a worthy detective, so she resigns and goes home. However, what she finds at home sends her to the last place she would ever wish to go.

Darby’s mother, Victoria Spencer, is a best-selling detective novelist who resides in a fancy home. However, her life is all about her fans, designer clothing and champagne. Victoria is dealing with a high-pressure situation as she needs to write another bestseller but suffers from writer’s block.

Darby has always resented her mother’s lauded career as a bestselling writer, but she heads to her mother’s home, where mother and daughter suddenly find themselves trying to solve a crime. Victoria dubs their agency, The Spencer Sisters Detective Agency, because the mother-and-daughter duo look more like sisters.

To complicate matters, newly single Darby runs into her old high school boyfriend, Lucas (Edward Ruttle), who is engaged to her childhood nemesis. However, there are more problems for her to solve.

Meanwhile, as the Spencer Sisters claim fame for solving crimes, the local detective starts to cause some issues. As mother and daughter find common ground, they jointly navigate a much bigger mystery.

When does the new detective series premiere on Hallmark+?

Luckily for Sleuthers, season 1 of The Spencer Sisters is already streaming on Hallmark+. Meanwhile, it has already aired on The CW. So far, no news is out about a possible season 2.
