Hallmark Spoilers – Explains Cameron Mathison’s Missing Character

On Thursday, February 1, Hallmark announced an eighth film in the Hannah Swensen Mystery franchise. The latest film is called One Bad Apple. All of the stars are back except for Cameron Mathison.

According to TV Life, Mathison played the role of Mike Kingston, whose character won’t be featured in the upcoming movie. The network explained that they wanted to “stay true to the book series.”

The series was originally titled Murder She Baked and was written by Joanne Fluke. The new film in the franchise is called One Bad Apple. Hallmark made changes to the original storyline.

They only followed the love triangle trope. The books feature Hannah dating other men aside from Mike or Norman (Gabriel Hogan).

Production added Chad Norton (Victor Webster), which means the cozy movie mysteries are getting slightly closer to the books. Sleuthers had a feeling that Cameron Mathison wouldn’t be back for the next installment.

In November 2023, he signed a multi-year, multi-picture deal with Great American Media.

Cameron Mathison – Leaves Hallmark For More Work

The daytime soap star wanted more work even though he was in General Hospital. The news of Cameron Mathison’s disappearance from the upcoming Hannah Swensen movie on the Girls Gone Hallmark podcast’s Facebook page. Sleuthers discussed the reason why Mathison disappeared from Hallmark.

“He actually responded to a friend of mine asking a question as to why he went there and his answer was, ‘I need to provide for my family and they have more work than Hallmark was offering me,'” one fan noted.

Other platforms explained that many of the actors had to leave for financial reasons. At the end of the Mystery 101 Instagram Live, Kristoffer Polaha explained Jill Wagner’s situation. She had to leave the network for the sake of her family.

Ultimately, it was the right decision that led to more projects down the line. Great American Media had desirable packages to give these actors, which is why so many left Hallmark Media.

    I respect his reasons and will miss him! I wish him well and will be watching for his shows to come out! He is a great star and they all should be paid appropriately for what they do to make the companies their fortunes!

    Again, Hallmark is destroying a good series. Mike and Hannah have great chemistry. There is such a concept and practice of dramatic license to change some facts of a book releated movie/series. Bring Mike back and make things right.

    It’s always where the money is!!! No devotion to the network that helped you when you weren’t doing anything. You could’ve negotiated getting more movie parts.

    Mike treats Hannah’s character horribly. No trust, no respect, hot and cold, talks down to her. She needs to stand up for herself again and be done with him.
