This coming weekend, Chelsea Hobbs leads alongside Tamera Mowry-Housley in the new, original Hallmark movie, Dream Moms. In an interview with Just Jared, Hobbs 38, known for her role in Make It Or Break It, spoke about her Hallmark roots, what it was like working with Mowry-Housley and more.

When she was asked if she had Broadway Dreams of her own, Chelsea joked that when she was a kid, people would have thought she should be on Broadway. “Cause I was that quintessential, you know, young child performing for all my parents’ friends, whether they liked it or not… singing and dancing and roping my little sister into it, but Broadway was never anything [I was dreaming about].”

However, when asked if she would accept a role on Broadway now, she said, “I wouldn’t say no.”

Hallmark actress’s acting career

Chelsea explained that when she was 16, she made her Hallmark acting debut with Bridge Fonda in Snow Queen, adding it was a Hans Christian Anderson fairytale. Meanwhile, speaking of Glen Gordon and Joshua Black, the boys who play her sons in the movie, she said they were “great, really funny kids. They were great little professionals.”

Meanwhile, speaking of her role in Dream Moms, Hobbs said she can relate on many levels to her character, Claire. She explained that she was a dancer, and had scoliosis when she was younger, which led to her stopping dancing. This meant that the dance aspect of Dream Moms, and finding her passion again, was “very relatable” to her.

Moreover, as an actress, there was a time when she stepped away from her career. However, she missed it so much, she came back, which she said isn’t always easy to do.

Chelsea said that making the movie was “very fun. It was such a blast.” She explained that the choreographer, Melina, did an “amazing job of hitting this Broadway Fosse-esque feel and that it “was so fun to film.”

Speaking of working with Tamera, who plays Danielle in the movie, she said they both knew they had to be “very open with each other from day one.” Chelsea said that the characters’ bond was “so vital to the film” and that chemistry was so important while filming.

In fact, she said she and Tamera “both came in very open,” and they formed this bond and love for each other right away, which was lovely. In fact, the two ladies bonded over their own mom guilt, while leaving their children to work on the movie. As they are both moms, they often have to leave their kids in another city or country while filming. Moreover, with its 15-hour days, working on a movie leads to not seeing your own children for five days straight, so she could truly relate.
