Hallmark Channel News – Bosses Opens Up About Talents Leaving The Network

In an interview at Television Critics Association press conference that took place in August 10, Daly said that the network is always looking for new actors who want to join their family. The higher-ups aren’t worried that some of their talents have moved to competitors, such as Great American Family (GAC Family).

“We’ve kept a lot of our talent under options, save for Christmas movies,” Daly said.

We’re looking for new talent all the time. I think there’s a lot of talent out there that we’ve worked with in the past that GAC is now working with, but I think that we also are constantly trying to evolve the talent pool that we’re working with,” she added.

President and CEO Wonya Lucas made it clear that it’s just not only GAC Family. She mentioned Netflix and Lifetime and pointed out that it’s just how the industry works. But she did mention that, unlike the others, they treat each other like family in their network and that’s what separates them from the others. They have talents that have been with them for a very long and they also have new ones that recently joined the network.

“And they all feel part of this Hallmark Channel love and so that that will be consistent; that is consistent in the past; that’s consistent today,” she explained.

They also offered updates about their current TV shows such as Chesapeake Shores, When Calls The Heart, and Good Witch.

One of the stars who left Hallmark was Candace Cameron Bure. She’s been a long-time staple at Hallmark, but she finally decided to move to GAC Family. Her exit came on the heels of former Crown Media CEO Bill Abbott’s exit. Bure will take on an executive role and will be part of the team that creates new original content.

Others who have signed deals with GAC Family include Jen Lilly, Danica McKellar, and Trevor Donovan.

Hallmark is too Liberal for Christians I don’t see Cameron I Danica or anybody the ones who left kissing a person of the same sex and Hallmark is showing that now so I hope they’re at least discrete and don’t show gross stuff like other networks.

I am also disappointed with Hallmark becoming so liberal and WOKE very disappointing don’t watch it like I used to

I don’t care for care for nudity but same sex marriages are a way of life today. I figure if you don’t like it change the channel. That’s what I do when I realize it’s a movie I already seen. That’s why we have other channels to watch.

      AGREED!

I agree with Edelmira: the morals in this country is becoming like Sodom and Gomarrah. I know God is sick. I loved watching Hallmark before as it stood for good.

I don’t care if people are gay BUT I don’t want to see it. I will watch the Hallmarks that don’t display it.

  • Deana

Won’t watch the same sex movies, will watch some of the others but will be watching GAC.

Sad to see some of the actors leave, others not so much. Sorry there won’t be anymore aurora teagarden mysteries, one of my favorites.

Seems some or most of you are homophobic & bigoted & that is not being Christian to judge other people . It is not for you to judge only God can judge . Worry about your own selves not other people . He whom is without sin cast the first stone & judge not for thee will be judged ,maybe some of you need to go back & read the Bible . The Bible was updated to the King James version in 1881 it is not the original Bible . the original Bible was told orally & written down 3,00o years ago & the Bible has been revised over 30,000 times . The original Bible was Codex Vaticanus ( Book from the Vatican ) & have been translated in 760 languages .

Love Hallmark and don’t have any issues with programming! Hallmark is about being up front and showing everyday real life. It sounds like a lot of comments being made are from homophobics racist and bigots. Hey that sounds like trump supporters! Divisive individuals that divide this country! Will never watch GAC and will now be boycotting all actors and actresses that moved over to GAC.

    • Janie Smith

I think they will survive without you..They have plenty of fans.

  • DJ

Seems like YOU are doing some judging Anita…….

I watched a Hallmark movie last night and was shocked to see homosectuals portrayed. I am a Christian, I know my Bible and don’t appreciate being lectured on it or having “quotes” blasted at its. It’s very clear in scripture that homosectuality is a sin and grievous to our God. It’s not judgement, it’s a fact from God Himself. Nor is it homophobic, it’s fact. So any broadcasters who claim to be Christian and still touts it is way off base. I don’t have to watch or accept this immorality in my home or in my heart so I will not be watching Hallmark any longer.

@ Anita Laforte- It is a sin, according to the bible. Why do you think Sodom and Gomorrha happened? God disapproved of this lifestyle. He made Adam and Eve. To continue life. Had he created two men or two women, humanity would have stopped there. Just because it is your desire to do something doesn’t mean it’s right. Who are we to make our own set of rules? I pray you stop thinking this way about Christians. And believe the words of Christ. Believe the Gospel. That he died for our sins and was raised from the dead 3 days later, and acscended unto heaven and is alive forevermore. We will all bend our knees to Him one day, I pray we are all in good standing with the Lord.
When Christ came people hated Him, which is why they killed Him. He said his followers will be hated as well. God is love, without him there is no love. But He is also just. He will come to judge us into everlasting life or to destruction (hell).

I m thrilled that Hallmark reflects the diversity of America! I have NO interest in gac & will not watch that channel. It is born out of prejudice & I have no interest in supporting that. To the ‘talent’ who left for gac – good riddance! Also love Hallmark dealing with real issues & life, eg The Journey Ahead. Thank you, Hallmark!

I do think Hallmark should quit catering to only white middle class Americans . They need to show some diversity in the content they produce to reflect the reality of the world we live in. It really has nothing to do with your personal religious beliefs. If you don’t like watching interracial couples, gay couples etc. then you need to switch the channel. If you only want to see traditional white, middle class fairytales on your screens then subscribe to GAF. As for you right wing Christians, who really cares if you like seeing a gay couple kiss. Switch the channel.
