Hallmark Channel spoilers and updates reveal the network made a big announcement recently. At the end of March, “The Chicken Sisters” Season One will take “When Calls The Heart’s” time slot until it’s new season happens.
About The Series
Hallmark made an important announcement on Saturday; the network revealed that The Chicken Sisters Season 1 will debut on the cable channel.
The show features Lea Thompson (Nancy Hiller), Wendie Malick (Augusta “Gus” Moore), Schuyler Fisk (Amanda Moore-Hiller), and Genevieve Angelson (Mae Moore). This multi-generational drama first launched on Hallmark+ the streaming channel in September.
Additionally, Ektor Rivera (Sergio), James Kot (Frank Jr.), and Rukiya Bernard (Sabrina) are part of the cast, with Margo Martindale serving as the narrator.
The network had promised that original streaming shows would eventually be available on the cable channel, and they have kept that promise.
Season One Cable Premiere Date
The Chicken Sisters Season 1 will debut on Sunday, March 30, taking the spot of When Calls The Heart-WCTH will air its Season 12 finale on March 23.
This new series, based on KJ Dell’Antonia’s popular novel, will go up against GAF’s When Hope Calls Season 2, featuring Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell.
The story revolves around two rival fried chicken restaurants, Mimi’s and Frannie’s, founded by former best friends two generations ago. The town of Merinac is split on which restaurant to support.
When the reality show Kitchen Clash arrives in Merinac, the competitors will do whatever it takes to win, leading to surprising revelations and tasty dishes.
What About Season Two?
Fans who have seen The Chicken Sisters Season 1 on Hallmark+ might be curious about the status of Season 2; as of Sunday, the network has not confirmed a renewal for the show.
While it appears on various industry production lists, there has been no official announcement from the network. The ACFC West Union page indicates that production is set to begin on April 7 and will continue until early July.
Hallmark has not provided any updates yet; some content experts speculate that the network may be uncertain about the show’s direction after filming.
Notably, Hallmark has not released any original scripted series on its streaming platform in 2025-will this change; they could be deciding now, fans should look out for news in the coming month.
Lea Thompson Is Directing Some Of The Episodes
The exciting news about The Chicken Sisters Season 2 is that Lea Thompson is one of the directors. She has directed some great episodes, including two standout episodes of Star Trek: Picard.
Fans of her work might remember her directing two episodes of her old mystery series, Jane Doe, titled Eye Of The Beholder and The Harder They Fall.
