Hallmark Channel spoilers and updates reveal real-life couples and “Chicago Med” alums Colin Donnell and Patti Murin are set to appear on “To Catch a Spy” on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on June 20. The film follows the story of a travel photographer and an FBI agent as they solve a murder mystery in Malta.
To Catch a Spy Story
In the movie, Chloe Day (Nathalie Kellye), a travel writer, Sara (Patti Murin), and the rest of their team visit Malta to cover a story about Hotel Optima. While in the hotel, Chloe overhears an argument in the other room and later on sees someone fall from the balcony above the room where they’re staying. Chloe becomes the primary witness to the crime.
Meanwhile, Aaron Maxwell (Donnell), who is an FBI agent, is in Malta to solve a crime that took place at the U.S. Embassy. He’s staying at the same hotel as Chloe. The pair ends up investigating the mysterious death and goes on a hunt for the killer. Other cast members include Jonathan Dunn and Davy Eduard King.
Patti Murin And Colin Donnell’s Other Hallmark Movie
This isn’t Murin and Donnell’s first time working together in the same movie. The couple previously appeared together in a different Hallmark film titled “Love on Iceland” back in 2020. The movie was set in Iceland and follows the story of a podcast producer who reconnects with her ex-boyfriend, a travel photographer.
The pair also appeared on the Dick Wolf series “Chicago Med” where Donnell played the role of Dr. Connor Rodes while Murin portrayed Dr. Nina Shore. Both stayed with the series until 2019.

Murin and Donnell fell in love with each other at the time when they worked on the musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labor’s Lost” back in 2013. They got engaged in 2014 and got married in 2015. They had their first child together in July 2020. The actress said the getting pregnant and having a child during the pandemic was a “terrifying” experience for her.

“It was the sickest, I think I’ve been in probably my entire life,” she recalled.
After they became parents, Murin and Donnell faced another problem when their daughter, who was 10-weeks old, required heart surgery. The little one had a hole in her heart that needed to be repaired. In an Instagram post in October 2020, Murin revealed that the operation went well and their daughter, Cecily, is doing well now.
