Hallmark Channel News – Love Finds A Way Amid Farm Life

Filmed in Connecticut, a new film just wrapped shooting this month on location at a farm. Tentatively titled “Love At The Steeplechase,” the movie takes place in autumn.

Andrew Gernhard of Synthetic Cinema International, which produced the film, told the Hartford Courant that the feeling of fall will result from digitally coloring the leaves. But although the trees’ hues may be faked, the film portrays real life at a horse farm.

Owned by Renee Dupuis, Meadowbrook Farm in Marlborough serves as the location for an estimated 75 percent of the movie’s scenes. The romance was helmed by Clare Niederpruem, who also directed the modern version of “Little Women” in 2018.

Hallmark Channel News – Who Stars In ‘Love At The Steeplechase’?

Stars include Nikki Deloach, who is known to Hallmark fans for movies such as “Christmas Land,” “A Dream of Christmas,” “Reunited at Christmas,” “Cranberry Christmas,” “Two Turtle Doves,” “Love to the Rescue,” “Love Takes Flight,” “Sweet Autumn,” “The Perfect Catch” and “Truly, Madly, Sweetly.”

“Love At The Steeplechase” portrays Meadow Brook Farm as the site where Deloach’s character grew up. After spending years away from the farm, her character returns to find romance.

Scott Porter takes on the role of male lead, with the parents of Deloach’s character portrayed by Corbin Bernsen from “L.A. Law” and Janine Turner, famed for her role in “Northern Exposure.”

Meadowbrook Farm owner Dupuis offered an inside look at the cast.

“They couldn’t have been more lovely people,” gushed Renee. “We got a call in late May from Andrew,” recalled Dupuis. “They needed a horse farm. They made an appointment, came out to see the farm and said ‘Thanks for your time, we’ll be in touch.’”

And don’t worry about the horses on the farm getting neglected during the filming. Renee added that she and her husband emphasized that their farm is an “active business.” Accordingly, Hallmark filmed around their schedule.

“Horses require care every day,” she added.

Look for “Love At The Steeplechase” to debut on September 25, with the farm playing a leading role. The sign outside the farm, “Meadow Brook Farm,” is slated to appear in the film to add a realistic touch.

As for the possibility of more movies from the Hallmark Channel to be filmed at Meadow Brook staff? Depuis didn’t say “no” to the possibility, revealing that she and her staff know how to maintain secrecy.

“We would read posts on Facebook saying where stars had been seen, and they were completely wrong, but we couldn’t say anything,” she recalled.
