Hallmark Channel news states that Crown Media provided a press release on the upcoming movie. It follows a New York marketing executive named Josie (Chabert). She finds out that her sister and brother-in-law died in an accident. She goes back home to New Hope, North Carolina to be with her family during this tragic time.

Josie is told that she was given custody of her sister’s children. This causes tension within the family. Josie’s parents feel that they should have been given custody so the kids can stay in New Hope. Meanwhile, Josie runs into her former flame, Cooper (Tyler Hynes), who coaches basketball to kids. Together, Cooper and Josie will work through their grief as a big decision has to be made about the children.

Then, during a family discussion, Josie’s parents have already made the decision that the children will live with them. This is when a man, who is assumed to be a lawyer, has to explain that Josie was given legal custody.

Then, the trailer moves to a basketball court where there is a teen girl who is crying. Josie sits next to her and it is clear she tries to help. Perhaps helping that young girl will help Josie decide if instant motherhood is right for her. However, this movie isn’t all tears. We see a flour fight in the kitchen as everyone is laughing. So, this sounds like a tearjerker in more ways than one.

In addition to Chabert and Hynes, “Sweet Carolina” also stars Gregory Harrison, Jesse Moss, Cassidy Nugent, Teryl Rothery, Glen Gordon, Jason Tremblay, and Christine Chatelain. Fans know that Chabert is a Heartie sweetheart. She has a long list of Hallmark movies on her acting resume. Hynes has also been in movies for the feel-good family-friendly network.
