Good news is out and about for Hallmark Channel fans who love a good mystery movie. Scandal executive producer Judy Smith will be taking the reins of a new mystery film, Redemption in Cherry Springs. This will be the first time Smith has been involved in a project for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries or the Hallmark Channel as a whole. A new mystery movie is coming to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries with Scandal EP and mastermind Judy Smith at the helm as executive producer. Smith was originally known for her work in crisis management, where previously she has acted as a consultant for Fortune 500 companies.

In fact, it was her real-life experience as a “fixer” that served as the inspiration for the character Olivia Pope on Scandal, on which Judy also acted as executive producer. The new mystery movie Redemption in Cherry Springs will be her first project for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Hallmark Channel News – About Redemption In Cherry Springs

The movie is set to star Rochelle Aytes, Frankie Faison and Keith Robinson, among others. The film will debut on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and could land as early as this fall.

A brief synopsis for Redemption in Cherry Springs reveals that investigative journalist, Melanie (Aytes) returns to her hometown of Cherry Springs for a much-needed break. When she arrives, her Uncle Joe (Faison) welcomes her with open arms. However, her quiet retreat is disrupted when a childhood friend suddenly goes missing. This leads to Melanie to have to use her investigative skills to uncover what is behind his sudden disappearance.

Meanwhile, Detective Jake Collins (Robinson) is tasked with the missing person’s case and he doesn’t approve of Melanie’s methods. However, he cannot deny that her contributions have been helpful. While the pair works together, they follow a mysterious path of twists and turns that ultimately lead them to a shocking truth.

As noted by Parade, speaking of her new project, Smith said, “As a storyteller and communicator, being able to connect with the Hallmark brand is something I’m thrilled about and so pleased to be part of the Hallmark family.”
