Hallmark: Color My World With Love Star David DeSanctis Says ‘Go After Your Dreams’

When actor David DeSanctis was asked to sign on for the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film Color My World With Love, he said it was an easy yes. The movie features two stars with Down syndrome who fall in love and want to be married. Meanwhile, the movie follows their romantic journey, with all its difficulties.

Color My World With Love debuted on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries earlier this month and has encore viewings through the end of July. What made the movie so different and special was that its lead actors both have Down syndrome.

The story follows Kendall (Lily D. Moore, Never Have I Ever) a young artist, who meets Brad (DeSanctis) through a cooking class for diverse learners. She quickly falls in love with Brad and they want to wed. However, Kendall’s protective mother, Emma (Erica Durance) is concerned that her daughter’s heart will be broken. While she wants to be happy for Kendall, she is not sure she is ready to take this step.

However, Emma slowly accepts that Kendall is ready to live her own life. In the process, she learns a lesson from her daughter about how to look beyond what’s in front of her and see the beauty that exists.

About David DeSanctis

David got into acting while a student at Ballard High School. Since then, he has starred in feature films like the 2014 movie Where Hope Grows. However, he said Color My World With Love felt special to him, partly because it is a love story.

WLPF quotes DeSanctis as saying, “I’ve always loved love stories,” adding, “And somehow, a love story moves me and it touches my heart, and I love that.”

I fell in love with the script. I fell in love with the people. It was just an amazing cast and crew for me to work with.

When asked his favorite part of filming the movie and working with the cast, he smiled and said:

We practically filmed the movie through April Fool’s Day, so we pulled a lot of pranks, and I laughed real hard and went down to the floor laughing so hard.

When asked why he eventually wants to get involved in other aspects of the film industry, he said he would love to create his own TV shows and movies. “I just love the industry so much, and I love my career.”

David was asked what he hopes people will take away from Color My World With Love. He said he hopes they take away different perspectives and different ways. DeSanctis said the movie is about love and relationships. While it “has its ups and downs, and everyday struggles through life.”

David’s main message to others with Down syndrome is to go after their dreams and chase them down. Don’t let anyone or anybody get in the way of you and your dreams. DeSanctis added that they should “put them into reality and put them into effect to be the inspiration.”

A lovely message indeed for not only those with Down syndrome but for all of us.
