According to Entertainment Tonight, “The Christmas Club” inspired Mathison to get tested that ultimately saved his life.

“It was on this movie, that I was like, ‘This movie is about following the signs and really paying attention and being mindful.’ I came off this movie [thinking], ‘I’m not going to ignore this anymore,’ That’s what inspired me to go get a doctor’s recommendation to get an MRI.”

Cameron Mathison Kidney Cancer Diagnosis

The test led doctors to find a tumor on Mathison’s kidney. It is speculated that it had been growing for about 10 years. The 50-year-old actor and ET correspondent went through surgery to remove the tumor. Thankfully, the operation was a success and it’s all thanks to “The Christmas Club.”

Cameron Mathison a Walking Miracle

The All My Children alum said the meaning of the movie literally saved his life.

“It saved my life. See? These Hallmark Christmas movies are more powerful than you know.”

Now that he is in recovery, the actor says that this holiday season is like the next phase of his life. He feels that he is being given a second chance and it just happens to be around the Christmas season.

In Mathison’s eyes, he really is a Christmas miracle. Even though it was a scary ordeal, there is a silver lining. The whole experience has made him appreciate life even more and it seems that Mathison really is a walking miracle, which is exactly what the Christmas season is all about.

Hallmark Channel’s “The Christmas Club” premieres on November 27 and along with Mathison, also stars Elizabeth Mitchell.
