Part of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Curious Caterer: Dying For Chocolate follows a spirited single mother and caterer, Goldy (DeLoach). She ends up becoming a sleuth to help a friend in solving a murder mystery. However, just as time is running out to find the real culprit, Detective Tom Schultz (Walker) and Goldy strike up an unlikely partnership. While at first, he feels he doesn’t need help, eventually Tom starts taking advantage of Goldy’s local knowledge.
As Goldy and Tom get close, their list of suspects is only growing. Will Goldy manage to track down the killer, or will the killer set his or her sights on her?

I wish the movie was like
Diane Mott Davidson's book. Goldy BEAR struggles with her weight, she has a SON, not a daughter. Marla is a large, rich woman; who ALSO is Richard's ex. (Who is an abusive jerk, not a "nice" ex who helps Goldy out.) The personities and nuances make the books! I didn't even realize this was done off Ms. Davidson's books until I heard Goldy's name. I've read so many of the books that I'm having a hard time hearing familiar things that don't mesh with my imagination's creations from the books. Ms. Davidson made her characters so genuine, not cookie cutter. Hallmark does a disservice to the author.
Hallmark did the same with the cookie murder movies. Hannah Swensen (and the cat) are redheads, not blonde and a gray/black tabby cat. Hallmark acts like details don't matter. Couldn't they at least have used a redhead wig?
