Hallmark star Lacey Chabert wants to make ‘a real Southern story’
In a recent interview with Vulture, Mississippi native, Lacey Chabert, spoke of her dreams. She said her dream is to film a movie “centered around Southern characters in a ‘Steel Magnolias’ kind of way.” In fact, this is the one feel-good story Chabert truly wants to make on Hallmark Channel.
Chabert has had a long relationship with Hallmark Channel and was asked what her “dream Hallmark project” is that she has yet to accomplish. The Purvis, Mississippi native said she lives in a small town, adding:
I think about how everyone in that town supported me when I was a kid when my family moved to New York and I started in the business. It’s been a longtime dream of mine to tell a real Southern story where we have accents and everything.
Lacey then noted that she used to have a “very thick Southern accent,” but that it has since faded. Speaking of her “dream project” for Hallmark, Chabert said she has some different ideas, but one particularly stands out.
My favorite [idea] is a story centered around Southern characters in a Steel Magnolias kind of way, which is one of my favorite movies. Depicting the culture of living in the South and growing up there and film it in Purvis.
Lacey Chabert and the feel-good channel
Meanwhile, after making many movies for Hallmark Channel, Chabert has upped her contribution to the network as she now produces and creates movies. In fact, last year’s first The Wedding Veil trilogy was spearheaded by the actress. That trilogy of movies saw three women, played by Chabert, Autumn Reeser and Alison Sweeney who met and fell in love with their perfect match, thanks to the magic veil.
Moreover, she also produced and created a second The Wedding Veil trilogy, where the story of the couples continued. While most Hallmark movies end with the wedding, the second trilogy revealed the couples’ lives together after their respective weddings.
Having two highly popular trilogies under her belt, surely Hallmark will give Lacey the opportunity to make her dream Southern story movie?
