Starring Italia Ricci and Michael Xavier, Trading Up Christmas is the last of Hallmark Mystery’s Miracles of Christmas. TV Insider revealed the plot of this heartwarming movie as follows.

Michelle (Ricci) has always had great ideas and big dreams and is one of those people who views the world as a wondrous place. However, her family doesn’t always support her imaginative dreams, and see the world as a place filled with pain and struggle. Due to this, Michelle is always the outsider in her family, but she doesn’t let their negativity affect her view of the world.

Meanwhile, when Michelle has an idea to help her sister, Keri (Meredith Forlenza) she is met with rejection. Keri is set to be homeless in February and desperately needs a new home and Michelle has a clever idea. She remembers reading about a man who traded a rubber band and wound up with a house. It took him two years, but Michelle is determined to do this by Christmas and even has a holiday-themed plan to make it happen.

Starting with just a Christmas stocking, Michelle sets out to trade her way up to something much greater – a new house for Keri. However, when Keri dismisses the idea, local reporter Dan is intrigued. When he is assigned to cover the story, he follows her closely, and as her plan becomes public, he starts to see the world through Michelle’s hopeful eyes.

Meanwhile, as Michelle and Dan grow closer, so too do their feelings grow for each other. However, when it seems her plan has failed, and she fears ruining her relationship with her sister, Michelle is almost ready to give up. It is Dan’s love and belief in her that bring back the hope when she needs it most.
