Lacey Chabert Opens Up About Loss Of Sister Before Latest Hallmark Movie Aired

Hallmark actress Lacey Chabert isn’t in a festive mood right now. Shortly before her much-anticipated Christmas movie, Christmas at Castle Hart, premiered, her sister Wendy unexpectedly passed away. She opened up to her fans on Instagram about her tragic loss.

Actress Lacey Chabert is a staple of Hallmark Channel’s popular Christmas movie lineup and has been for years. However, the release of her latest festive movie ended up being a bittersweet occasion. Just a few days before Christmas at Castle Hart was set to premiere, Lacey unexpectedly lost her sister Wendy.

When the movie aired, Lacey didn’t live tweet, as many cast members do during the premiere. However, she does feel her sister would have wanted her to “celebrate” her work on the film.

Chabert went on Instagram to open up about her sad news, explaining that the movie premiered just as her family was grieving for her sister. In her caption, Lacey explained that her sister was one of her “biggest cheerleaders” and would want her to still celebrate her work. In fact, she said Wendy would be “downright annoyed” with her if she didn’t. She continued, admitting that Christmas at Castle Hart had reminded her so much about Wendy as it is the story of two sisters.

“In a strange twist of fate, one of the things that separate this Christmas movie from my other ones is that it actually features a beautiful relationship between two sisters. While we were filming I thought about Wendy many times as the character of Margo reminded me so much of her. On our first meeting I told our wonderful director Stefan Scaini about this. Wendy was the funny one. She was always the first one to have some outlandish plan that usually got us into a little bit of fun trouble and had us laughing so hard tears rolled down our cheeks. Margo reminded me of her.”

Lacey Chabert’s caption continued, with her writing more about Wendy and saying how she would like to dedicate her latest Hallmark film to her late sister. She went on to encourage her fans that are able to spend the holiday weekend with their family to hold them and keep them close.

“So tonight, I’d like to dedicate this movie to my sister and let it serve as a tribute to her beautiful life. If you watch, I hope it makes you laugh and brings you some Christmas cheer. I hope you’ll hug your loved ones tight as you enjoy the movie. Thank you for your continued support. My love to you all!”
