Hallmark Channel spoilers and updates reveal the channel is airing the season 1 finale episode of “The Chicken Sisters”. The episode is titled, “The Best Chicken In Town, Y’All” but will the series be back for a season 2?
The Series Has Been Renewed And Is Currently Filming In Vancouver, Canada
Exciting news for fans of the quirky Merinac series starring Lea Thompson as Nancy Moore, Wendie Malick as Gus Moore, Schuyler Fisk as Amanda Moore, and Genevieve Angelson as Mae Moore.
The show has officially been renewed for a second season, with filming already underway in Vancouver. The series is set to undergo a transformation, potentially adopting a lighter and more humorous tone under the new showrunner, Erin Gibson, known for her work on Throwing Shade.
Gibson is stepping in for the previous showrunner Annie Mebane. Additionally, JAG’s David James Elliott joins the cast in a recurring role, bringing a character from Gus’s past that could stir up some drama in Merinac.
The Show Will Look A Bit Different Going Forward-Lighter, More Fun And Less Serious
This series, inspired by K.J. Dell’Antonia’s novel, will pick up after the Kitchen Clash competition results. The season finale promises to dramatically change the lives of all characters involved.
With HMK replacing the showrunner for The Chicken Sisters in Season 2, the series may take on a vibe similar to ‘Hart Of Dixie.’
The network appears to be shifting the series’ tone, as suggested by the new promotional posters, which indicate a more lighthearted approach. When The Chicken Sisters debuted on Hallmark+, the poster’s tagline read, ‘Only one can rule the roost.’
The Four Main Characters Look Like They Are Ready For A Competition And Conflict In The Original Promo Photo
A picture shows the four main characters appearing ready for the big chicken shop contest-the bold yellow and red text feels confrontational, and the tagline suggests conflict.
In contrast, the newer Hallmark Channel poster has a lighter tone-Its tagline reads, ‘The secret recipe for family,’ aligning with the network’s positive family-oriented message.
The colors are brighter and more optimistic, with the characters smiling, creating a cheerful atmosphere, shifting this series towards a more fun vibe, similar to Hart Of Dixie.
For instance, Dot (Marlee Walchuk) has introduced a lot of humor and quirkiness to the show with her leggings party and other entertaining business ideas.
These lighter plots have resonated better with viewers compared to the heavier themes that are more typical of Lifetime; The Chicken Sisters second season will premiere this fall.
