WCTH Alum Kayla Wallace Talks About Her Tough ‘Landman’ Role

In this series, she has moved on from Hope Valley; what surprising revelations does Wallace have in store? In the Taylor Sheridan series Landman, Kayla Wallace takes on the role of Rebecca Falcone, a character not to be underestimated.

To authentically portray her, how did Kayla get ready for this challenging part; in an interview with Cowboys & Indians, she discussed her approach to mastering the intricate dialogue.

Initially, upon reading the script, Kayla realized she needed to conduct extensive research, as she was unfamiliar with the subject matter. This involved collaborating with Sheridan prior to filming, as she aimed to understand his vision while writing the script.

Kayla Talked To A Friend In Vancouver Who’s An Attorney

Subsequently, Kayla reached out to her lawyer friend in Vancouver for advice, to get a realistic take on the role of an attorney, and how to portray the part accurately. She also dove into the world of YouTube, exploring live trials, including those involving celebrities.

She affectionately dubbed this her ‘Law School For Dummies’ and even attended a real case in Fort Worth. This journey ignited her passion for the craft of litigation, as it is indeed a craft.

Regarding her character, Rebecca, Kayla appreciates how Rebecca is ‘driven’ by the sexism and condescension she faces.

Kayla Spoke About A Dangerous Scene In Landman

In the Paramount+ series Landman, the oil fields are fraught with peril; however, Kayla Wallace encountered a different kind of threat while filming a scene with a rattlesnake. With a real rattlesnake present and an ambulance on standby, the situation certainly felt risky.

Thankfully, everything was handled correctly, with snake wranglers on site and a plexiglass barrier separating me from the snake.

For someone who had never seen a snake before, it was quite an intimidating experience. Kayla soon understood that she was far from the familiar comforts of Hope Valley!
